Profession Counseling
Professional counselors should provide care and determine the main areas individuals need to develop to feature their lives. They identify this by assessing them with the professional techniques they equipped . This will help the individuals to establish themselves within their limit of success in the future and the current situation. As discussed below.
Wellness is the philosophical principal profession counselors use to define the current development of the client. They use this to come up with a way to cope with the problem and give back hope to the involved individual. Profession counselors should aid the client to patterns that cause negativity in their lives (Hill, 2004). Resilience refers to the ability to adapt to a difficult situation and return to the previous status before the crisis happened. Resistance exists one to get out of psychological torture thus getting into getting out of negative consequences that are long-time. Resilience enables the individual to manage any stress or situations that cause stress. Prevention refers to a way of controlling a problem from happening, controlling the problem from getting to the worst level.
A wellness model is a way used to evaluate a person's emotions both physically, occupationally, socially and spiritually. Wellness model enables us to solve a situation through assessment of individual mental evaluation. I choose the occupational wellness model because one can get that satisfaction and personal enrichment through the activities or work he is engaged. Professional wellness profoundly depends on the individual attitude towards work. It is better to choose a career that fits us rather than someone choosing for us because of our values, interests, and beliefs. Occupational wellness also enables our minds to be engaged all through thus not being idle for corrupt activities. Professional welfare allows counselors to know the career path to their clients.
The philosophical keys include beliefs and assumptions that help philosophers to develop a foundation to deal with any stress impact on us. They assist in the evaluation of any stressor to individuals.
I developed the urge to be a counselor on careers or a vocational counselor because of the following reasons; every growing child has a right to choose a job, parents should not choose careers to their siblings, and one should follow the path of interest, attitude, and motivation towards the career he wants. I chose vocational counselor because, at some point, I was forced to take a profession, which was of not my interest, and it ended messing up. Something that I chose never to repeat because of my parents' demand. I specialized in this because it brings hope back to teenagers who want to get into any career field. It also makes me happy to deal with even people beyond my age who prefer to make a career path change.
School counselor specialization mostly collaborates with career counselors because it mostly involves students (Dingman, 2009). School career developed because primarily I was handling student. I could guide students on how to cope with every situation thus bringing other student affairs into my concern thus the development. School counseling enhances students' social, personal and academic growth thus complementing career counseling which involves all those traits to help come out with the best career one is intended to.
School Counseling
School counseling can help Ashley to come out of the current situation she is. As a professional counselor one should solve the family problem of Ashley and find the best solution out of it. The professional counselor should collaborate with both the mother and stepfather to iron out the mess (Studer, 2004).This identification and solving of the problem will help her develop academically. Talking to the stepfather to always be treating Ashley as his won and the other kids also to know that Ashley is one of them would help her not to worry so much as if she came to another world. The profession counselor should make her understand that we live with even strangers and they like our brothers and sister.
School counselors should help students understand and cope with the problems they faced. Be it social, personal, behavior or academic the counselors should assist them to adapt to such. The professionals enhance this for the development of students and support them to cope with life. The counselors also need to try their best to give the students the skills necessary to handle challenging situations in life. School counselors should also guide domestic violence where they include the parents, introduce drug prevention ways, how to resolve conflicts and motivational talks to develop them academically.
The school counselor should have the ability to evaluate in such a case. This will help him or her to assess the problem with caution (Hill, 2004). The counselor should also be friendly to the student enhancing the ability of the student to sort out the issue in a friendly environment. Being friendly also helps the student to be free and share the experience she is facing.
Teamwork should be a pivotal role to the professionals. This will enable the professional work towards the goal of achieving their desire. Respect also allows the professional to handle their work properly thus respecting each other idea in such circumstances. Trust should be critical, as this will benefit them not to expose what they have shared about their client.
Mental health agencies promote optimal wellness. The environment that the client lives affects how the situation will be handled. Holistic wellness refers to being concerned about the well-being of an individual both emotionally and physically (Studer, 2004). Such counseling organizations include; American Counseling Association (ACA) and the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
For regular evaluation of profession, collaboration there should be cultural diversity. This will enable one to know the difference in how people treat such kind of situations. Human development and growth should also be the best criteria to analyze this, as it will help understand how one interprets the stress due to increase and human development.
