Philosophers say that every art tells a story, however, there are others that seem to be telling two stories, and one of them is Cloud Gate from Chicago. There is the need for the society to appreciate the elegance of the art and the ambience that it creates to the environment, such would help in ensuring that such pieces of art are preserved and that that artists are nurtured so as to help in the building of other pieces of art to help in the development of knowledge in the society. Clod Gate is an art that was done by British artist, Anish Kapoor, and is his first public work done outdoors which is situated in the United States in Chicago Illinois (Eler, Kapoors & Gate 8). The art is a heavy sculpture weighing a total of 110 tons made in an elliptical manner through the forging of seamless and plates of stainless steel that is highly polished to reflect the skyline of Chicago.

The gate to the concave chamber is an arch that has a height of 12 feet where the gate is located under the sculpture. The art is made is such a way that when visitors tough its surfaces which is mirror-like, their images reflect back from various perspectives. The art is one of the largest sculptures in the world, where its length is 66 feet and a height of 33 feet. The art creates a spectacular scene in the Chicago and is the main reason behind the high numbers of visitors at the site proving the need to appreciate its role and the benefits that it brings to the population and the country as a whole (Eler, Kapoors & Gate 11). There is, therefore, the need for the authorities to preserve the art and make it beneficial to the population and help in creating sources of revenue for the population and the City of Chicago.

When I visited Cloud Gate from Chicago, I got the best feeling of my life and got to share the experience that I only read in the books and articles. Such is because I got to appreciate the architectural skills that were employed during the construction of the sculpture and how it got to have the bean shape while maintaining its elegance and uniqueness in the vicinity. Additionally, I got to appreciate the exceptional thoughts and ideas about the that were employed in connecting the stainless steel plates to match without breaking the path of light thereby creating a perfect reflection of the vicinity around and beyond. There is also the aspect of perfect polishing of the stainless steel plates to the extent where there are not visible seams leading to the elegance of the art (Eler, Kapoors & Gate 15). In this manner, it should be acknowledged that there are various architectural skills that were employed in the art which modern-day artists need to acknowledge.

Finally, I appreciated the aspect of liquid mercury, and the way Kapoor was able to include such an aspect in the surface of the sculpture to aid the reflection and distortion of the skyline of the city making it stand out legendary in the city. Because the art resulted from design competition, there is the need to appreciate application of knowledge and skills that were employed thereof and the ensure that artists are mentored and that they develop the right skills and knowledge that are beneficial to the public.
