The health of an individual is determined by many factors such as economic status, geographical location, and community where one is brought up. The socio-economic factors determine how well an individual will take care of their bodies to ensure good health (Victora, Habicht, & Bryce, 2004). Each person has a different culture, values, and morals, which create a person's identity. Having adequate resources enables a parent to provide healthy food for the family and to offer proper medical care. This paper will reflect my cultural upbringing in Lynnwood WA in America, which will contribute to conditions that shaped my life.

I was born in Lynnwood, WA in the United States of America. As a part of my identity, I am a white and a Christian. Lynwood has an average population comprising of Asian, whites, and Latinos. The most common overall population are native Spanish and Spanish creole. As I grew up, I learned to speak in different languages, such as English and Spanish. Since Lynwood has so many Asians, I also learned to speak a little bit of Chinese. My parents are considered as middle class as many residents of Lynnwood. I was brought up with proper values which were derived from the Christian culture that my parents practiced. My both parent are employed by the government; hence, they can provide for most of our need like good duration and medical care.

Most of my neighborhood has a well-furnished house with most of my neighbors being homeowners. This has been increasing since my parent settled in Lynnwood in the year 1990. In my neighborhood, you find well-structured schools and hospitals with the requirement. Most of the employees from Lynnwood area male Asians, which exceeded the other ethnicity groups like white and Hispanic. This employment provides regular income to the Lynnwood citizens enabling them to have a healthy lifestyle choice (Rourke, Incitti, Rourke, & Kennard, 2005). Their economic status ensures a quality of life with quality health. Since most of my neighbors are educated, this will make sure that the community will continue to grow to shape their lifestyles. In my neighborhood, you find many of the learned residents are whites who have acquired their degrees. Their level of education makes them take care of their families and have personal care spending like medical care.

The social condition in the Lynnwood helped to shape my life. I was able to attend a good school in the neighborhood where I pursued my degree in finance. When I was growing up, every time I would be unwell, my parents were able to take me to the best hospital, which offered excellent care. My siblings and I received a necessary vacation for the prevention of common diseases like measles. My parents would make sure that we ate health food and have fruits regularly. This ensured good health for my siblings and I. from my parents Christianity background; I learned to have good morals and avoid any crimes which have enabled me to stay out of trouble.

Social-cultural practices from Lynnwood contributed to many factors in my life. This is something that has also been passed form many generations of Lynnwood citizens. Being brought up in a good neighbor's hood with all the necessary resources have made me not be able to understand communities with a high rate of crimes (Victora, Habicht, & Bryce, 2004). This has made to be afraid to visit such neighborhood for any reason. My parents also took me to all white schools, which denied me the opportunity to learn from other cultural groups in Lynnwood. The culture in these schools was so different from the other schools, which gave me a different experience as they grew up. They taught me diverse skills which I find useful in my professional field. They also gave me enough knowledge to help me have a healthy lifestyle for a longer life. This discrimination is also present in most places in Lynnwood like during employment where Asians are paid more than the other ethnic groups. This has been brought up by the assumptions that Asians are good employees that whites.

Conclusion

In conclusion, growing up in Lynnwood, WA, gave me the best chances in life. I was able to obtain a quality education and medical care. I grew up in a safe neighborhood, which enabled me to thrive and have a better longer life. Being raised by financially able parents provided me with necessities that many poor families could not afford like clinical care. This has ensured a healthy life for my family and all the residents of Lynnwood. The socio-economic status of Lynnwood has enabled many families to be employed and receive medical care whenever they need it. Citizens from this location live longer and give birth to healthy babies who have the opportunity of having a better future.
