I am both a performer since I do have composers who compose songs for me and my work is interpreted what they intended to mean
How long have you studied music?
I started making music when I was in college and to further my skills; I joined a musical college for six months where I interacted with various musical instruments.
What instrument(s) do you play?
I commonly use the guitar in my performance since you know very well that music cannot be music without instruments.
Do you sing? If so, what voice range?
As a musician, my job is to sing, and I have between 1.5 and 2 octaves in my modal voice, and this is something that has helped me to more aware of the notes I can reach various types of music.
In which music ensembles have you participated?
I had been involved in various ensembles especially when I was in Music College. Participation in music ensembles is essential as it has enabled me to interact with different musical instruments that I use while composing my music.
In what capacity? Do you take part in concerts frequently?
I often take part in shows almost every weekend to entertain my music fans with some of my latest hits.
Approximately how many performances a year? How is active participation in music making different from passive listening?
I participate in more than 60 live performance each year. When you participate in music, you feel as if you own the crowd and you are in control of the crowd as compared to passive listeners.
What decisions do you make while performing music?
Before I take part in any performance, the musician requires knowing which kind of music I will play that particular day
Do you now (or do you plan to) make your living as a musician? What are the advantages of a career in music? What are the disadvantages?
I earn just to make enough money that can enable me to sustain my living. For instance, in some big concerts, am paid not less than 90,000 per performance. This remains one of the advantages of a music career as I can earn a living from it. Another benefit of music is that musicians I can attract a lot of people and this facilitates interaction among individuals. Also, can spread a particular message in their music which can reach their listeners within a very short time. However, I can say that there are some challenges in this industry. For example, some of the music instrument is expensive, and at the beginning, you can consider quitting this job. Also, unlike other careers, there is no set path to follow in a music career, and you need a lot of connections for you to make it through.
Music is an instrumental sound combined in such a manner that it produces beauty of form, expression of emotion and harmony. While interviewing the musician, I learned a lot of things about music. Before any music is produced, some individuals are involved. For example, in musical communication, there is performer whose function is to communicate the intention of the composer to listeners regardless of whether their interpretation is right or wrong. The performers work to interpret the intention of the composer into the sound of its interpretation. Another key individual in music is the conductor whose work is to carry Orchestra Chorus or any other musical group in any given performance and also interprets ensemble works. The conductor stresses the musical pulse so that all performers can follow the same metrical rhythm. Notably, music cannot be music without musical instruments. This is instruments that are created or adapted to produce musical sound
The music industry is one of the most profitable industry, and musicians do not only use it to express their talent bust as a source of income. The one thing that surprised me is the amount of cash the musician earn every performance. The musician makes more than $100,000 per live performance of fewer than five hours. Notably, the musician I interviewed is someone I had known for, and if there is something a learned from him, is an optimistic and dedicated person. This a person that started from a humble background, had no fans and nobody liked his music at that time.
