Introduction
Many people grow up dreaming of becoming either a teacher, an actor, a news anchor or a singer. Therefore many people want to become very famous and known to many hence making a lot of money from their profession. While those people struggle to get into those careers or professions which have slim chances, there is another career with exciting opportunities and interesting that can offer all of that to an individual that is aspiring to be in it. Graphic design is an exciting career for many because it has both creativity and artistry being put into practice. Hence combining designing with marketing and business, by a large extent gives an individual opportunity to become famous and well known in the field of graphic design. I am an undergraduate student who is taking graphic design at university, and this is my second last semester at the university. It means that I got very few days to finalize during my final year at the campus. Therefore, am looking forward to venturing in graphic design job after my graduation which will help me put into practice what I have learned in school and try to earn a living out of it. Job experience and the education requirements will be needed while applying for the designer job which is to be submitted. A graphic designer is thus required to create visual presentations and be able to design goods from a variety of things such as from detergent boxes, from album covers, gravestone markers and food cans and so forth (Bestley et al., 2016). Hence the graphics career with its artists is considered to be base of the graphic design world. The research paper will mainly focus on the graphic design profession highlighting the requirements needed in this career path.
Graphic Designer Skills
Graphic design profession requires creativity skills to be employed at all cost. A graphic designer should be able to think outside the box to come up with something that is unique and different from others that have been created. The graphic designer is required to combine images, phrases and ideas which should be able to illustrate to the audiences that are targeted which should be able to impact the target audiences and the illustrated graphics that have been designed should be able to get a reaction from the audience such as the posters, advertisements, billboards and the product packaging (Shaughnessy, 2012). Also, the Logos that are designed by the Graphic designers should carry a lot of creativity in it which are supposed to encourage people, and it should make people think about developed logos by the graphic designer. Hence an outstanding graphic designer should pose these skill to attract more audience to his work.
Passion is also a very vital thing that is required in this field, and it is something that is essential in this career. Am a graphic designer by profession which is something I'm proud of, and it is something I love doing and am also building on it that I'm looking forward to be doing it for a lifetime. Hence as a graphic designer having passion in what you do and pursuing it is the key, which means that you need to stick to it and thus when there is education advancement required, an individual who has passion in it needs to go for it. I confidently believe that if a person has the desire for something he or she has a yearning for, then make sure you take that thing as a career which will translate to economic benefit in future. Therefore, graphic designers have to love what they do for them to be successful in their field of occupation.
Graphic design career entails meeting up with different clients, and hence you get to hear what the clients want and how they want it done. Therefore sometimes it is tough to tackle what a client needs, who are not sure of what he wants. Many clients come to the graphic designer with an idea and state it to the graphic designer but the idea stated cannot be actualized, but yet they have big hope in you to put their idea into reality (Shaughnessy, 2012). Therefore this career needs faith and commitment of the graphic designer because sometimes the clients may reject what has been designed because what has been developed has not met the picture that is in the client's mind. Moreover, courage and perseverance are needed in this career for an individual to be able to withstand the job demands and the pressure that comes within the graphic design industry.
Benefits of Completing an Internship in Graphic Design
Completing a graphic design internship comes with many benefits to a graduate. This internships not only help the students to acquire graphics jobs very easily but also but it also helps those students to learn and be well versed with the understanding of their trade. The internship teaches the students ways on which they can become professional graphic designers through a professional setting and become an essential part of their training. The following are ways through which internships are helpful to the students in their graphic design career.
It gives the students a work experience. Internship in graphic design is helpful because it provides students with hands-on experience. It provides them with knowledge in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 which is essential in this field. This programs will be provided to students to work with them during the internship period and whereby they will be able to gain knowledge on how to use them and utilize that knowledge in their professional environment. Furthermore, the internships help the students develop soft skills such as the ability to be able to work well with clients, communication skills and leadership skills (Heller, 2015).
Graphic design is the professional portfolio, where the graphic designers can develop the skill. The professional portfolio helps the student in future to secure a job. Most of the time graphic designers work on a client's job and hence when the client is impressed with your previous job he will come back. Thus the professional samples that students create during internships prove the abilities of the students to any potential client who may wish to see it.
Besides, internships help the student to get or land a job. This factor dramatically puts the student who has completed an internship on an upper hand than his fellow students who have not finished. From experience gained which will enable a student to secure a job to reference that will reassure the potential future employees that their potential employee is qualified for the advertised position. Hence the internships that a student undergoes helps him, or she gets prepared for a career in graphic design (Shaughnessy, 2012). Lastly, the placement provides references to the student where the student's supervisors during the internship are critical as they provide the professional source of referrals. It is therefore essential as it helps in networking for career success of a student.
Application for a Scholarship
There are specific eligibility criteria which should be met by all candidates willing to apply for scholarships. These criteria include academic qualifications where the entry requirements need to be attended by all the candidates. The entry requirement depends on the program of which the student wants to study. Country of residence is also a vital requirement for those willing to apply. The application of scholarships depends on the state of residence of the student
The financial ability of the student is also an essential element of the scholarship application. The students should be able to pay the charges involved during application stages. The scholarships available for undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs are offered by multi-campus Lesley University in the United States. Postgraduate degree programs are provided by the University of Edinburgh in the UK. Apart from scholarships, a student can also get educational funding through the application of loans or bursaries from the government.

A great graphic designer can be on knowhow on graphic design collaboration not only with clients, and other designers but also with marketers, project managers, and developers. This question can reveal if a candidate is fit to work very effectively with a large variety of individuals and hence be able to deliver a final product needed (Heller, 2015). What is a color theory in the graphic design and why is it so significant in the field of graphic design? A color in graphic design is very powerful as it can tell a story, establishes a solid brand identity and it conveys emotions. This question when asked it tries to test the candidate's knowledge on the graphic design foundation skills. In conclusion, graphic design career path is a critical path that needs passion and creativity for one to be successful.
