Who prompted the study and what is its purpose?
The main factors which led to this study were the increasing number of athletes who sustained injuries during the Cross Fit participations. Cross Fit has become a popular activity since 2005, with participants doing the work outs individually or joining Cross Fit affiliates programs. Even with the rise in popularity limited studies have been conducted regarding the injury epidemiology and identifying risks factors of Cross Fit activities. Existing studies identifying the safety issues had been conducted by CITATION Hak13 \l 1033 (Hak, 2013) but the study had limited information as it used online forums to collect information and did not reflect how many people participate in the research. The purpose of this study was to examine the Cross Fit injury epidemiology as well as the risk factors associated with Cross Fit. The study targeted the athletes who took part in the Cross Fit activities and thus was precisely conducted on athletes who participated at four owner-operated facilities in South Florida.
Was it descriptive, analytic, or experimental research?
This study was analytic as it sorts to identify the risks associated with Cross Fit activities and the injury epidemiology experienced by participants. According to Allender, Rector, & Warner, (2014), an analytic research seeks to identify the associations between a particular human activity to the human wellbeing and the risks associated with the activity. This study met Allenders criteria as it involved a participators sample group of 225 Cross Fit athletes in South Florida, whose history of injuries and severity of the injuries during the exercises were collected using questionnaires. The study also qualifies to be analytic because the researcher observed by collecting data of injury history of the participants and did not determine or control the outcomes through experiments as would have been the case of an experimental study CITATION Whi16 \l 1033 (Whiteman-Sandland, 2016).
Was the study design retrospective or prospective?
This was a prospective study; a prospective study involves taking a cohort of participants and observing their behavior and results in relation to the problem of study over a period of time. This study qualifies as prospective as the participants were subjected to the study for a period of six months thus it was fast forward.
Why the researcher chose the prospective design?
The researcher most likely chose prospective study because it provides close to accurate results as the researcher can closely monitor the outcomes unlike in retrospective study which is subject to bias as the participant can choose to provide false information regarding his past injuries and experiences during Cross Fit exercises. Choosing to use an analytical study also enabled the researcher to identify if there were any injury epidemiology and risks associated with Cross Fit activities by observing the participants over a period of time.

Findings
The outcomes/study findings were that Cross Fit athletics is associated with injuries their risks factors, of the 191 participants who took part in the study who equated to 75% (191/255), 50 of them sustained injuries within the six months. Both men and women were subject to injuries, 40% of those who got injured were those using Cross Fit facilities, 30% were athletes who engaged in Cross Fit on their and an additional 15% got injure not while taking part in Cross Fit activities. The shoulders, knees and lower back were the areas majorly injured, taller and more weightier athletes were at higher risk of injuries, the injuries were similar to those of sports mostly caused by stones, tire flips, log press among others CITATION Keo16 \l 1033 (Keogh, 2016).
The population that will benefit from this group is the athletes taking part or anticipating to take part in Cross Fit activities, as they will be more careful when taking part in their exercises, owners, and trainers in the Cross Fit facilities will as well benefit from the study as they can plan on how to reduce thes injuries by addressing the factors CITATION Sum16 \l 1033 (Summit, 2016).
