Introduction
In the classical time of our world, several countries have seen through the propagation and regulation of homosexuality through modernized public mass mediums, debates and standardized academic learning. Non-commercial homosexual relations between two adults in private have been considered a civil right with most people arising against the legalization of this kind of relations. According to research about 10 percent of the world's population are theoretically part of the lesbian-gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community most of them undergoing discrimination based on who they are (Lee, & Lim, 2016). This community has high rates of suicide, depression and suicide ideation due to the discrimination they are experiencing. This has led to rise of the cause for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights that fight for the existence of homosexuals (Lee et al, 2016).
However the rise of prominent supporters of same sex marriage such as gay and lesbian rights commission have faced tremendous opposition from the ruling of various courts including the Supreme Court on the illegalization of this marriages. With the court ruling that it is unconstitutional to curtail marriage of different gender. Public support for same sex marriage has risen with the most esteemed supporters being human rights and civil rights organizations as well as the medical and scientific communities ,while the most prominent opponents being the religious groups (Lee et al, 2016). Some of the supports have gone an extra mile and publicly denounced attempts to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman. Debates are rising each day on whether same sex marriage should be legalized or not.
How the Debate and this Situation are Similar
The debate involves two party's secretary Hillary Clinton and the republican presidential candidate Donald Trump while the modern-day situation also involves two parties, those supporting same sex marriage and those opposing the same marriage.
The debate between Secretary Hillary Clinton and republican presidential candidate Donald Trump begins with the discussion on the kind of Supreme Court to meet the needs of the Americans while in this situation the Supreme Court is involved on whether to legalize same sex marriage (Enli, 2017). In the same way the republican presidential candidate and Secretary Clinton argue on whether the court overturns Roe v. wade on woman rights to abortion; the court also has a mandate to legalize or overturn the support for same sex marriage.
In both situations of abortion and same sex marriage some states have put stringent rules and regulations on people from exercising the choices. Abortion is considered unconstitutional and illegal as it permits one to intentionally take the life of another human as well as same-sex marriage which is considered a defiance of natural law. Both cases are liable to punishment; the republican presidential candidate argues in his discussion against abortion that women involved in abortion should be punished (Enli, 2017). Homosexuality also exposes participants to the long hand of the law in countries and states where it is prohibited.
The debate involves political leaders while the situation also brings in debate arising from political leaders where some accept the legalization and others oppose the legalization. In both situations, they are supported or opposed by prominent organizations such as human rights and civil rights organizations. In addition, the abortion debate had been steered by Roe v. Wade while protection on rights of homosexuals had been steer-wheeled by Bowers v. Hardwick Each side of debate for both situations has either a supporter or an opponent (Enli, 2017). In the debate both parties involved have different views on either of the side he or she is supporting and none agrees to the discussion of the other.in some countries both cases are considered as loss of dignity.
How The Debate And The Situation Are Different
The debate on abortion focuses on the rights of the unborn child and the mother while the situation on same-sex marriage focuses mainly on the rights of adults. Decriminalizing abortion is an act that defies the commonly accepted idea of the sanctity of human life as life which starts at conception is terminated. Same sex marriage rights defend and give freedom to homosexual adults to engage in sexual relations just as the heterosexuals (Zhang, 2017).
As illustrated by the debate on abortion, the discussion is concerned with maintaining dignity of life that needs to be protected or terminated based on the health of the mother or as a personal decision that the government should not get involved, while the situation on homosexuality is concerned with dignity in marriage equality. Several human rights campaigns state that it is a civil right for same sex couple to marry legally as they are in love and need to honor their relationship by publicly committing to stick together through all pains and joys (Zhang, 2017).
The support and a constitutional right for women to make intimate decisions on abortion could lead to loss of several innocent lives unlike the support of homosexuality which gives freedom to the people to engage in same-sex relations which has led to reduction of suicide cases due to the discrimination the LGBT community have faced in the society.
