The social ecological model is a classic model that can help minimize violence in the long run. Rendering to this theory is that violence is a learned behavior from childhood and those who perpetrate violence do not begin as adults Campbell, Dworkin, and Cabral 2009). As such, if a person grows up in a place that accepts violence against women and passes it as alright, then when they are adults they are likely to propagate the same. Therefore, an appropriate program should aim at inculcating value in young boys as they grow up so that they learn to treat women with respect as human equals (Leaper,2005). The reason violence does not seem to end, is because it stems from a belief system that informs the actions that a person takes. Therefore, training the young boys is imperative even in the schools regarding the value of girls and women and that should be done over and over until it becomes a part of their belief system.

Training is also essential because part of the reason this is propagated is that of the belief that it is okay and accepted that men should be violent and thus women fail to report. Women should be trained that abuse is wrong and punishable by law and that no action done against them in abuse is acceptable even if its by a family member. Creating awareness in women groups about how they can be able to prevent issues of violence from escalating to injuries and death should be prioritized in public health. Women need to know the initial signs of violence so that they report and prevent worse cases. Further, the cultural belief system that belittles and demean women is something that should be unlearned by members of the society if a sustainable change in regards to violence is to be eliminated. Parenting lessons should be offered from time to time to equip them with necessary skills to bring up responsible men who care about women. When the society and key plays participate in upbringing healthy individuals that would be a great step in the prevention of violence against women. Such men will not have to deal with the law following unjust actions.

Both men and females, boys and young girls, should be on the forefront in averting the negative implications of violence against women. Professionals in the public health should be more keen and involved when offering treatment to the female patients with injuries. Training for the nurses and health professionals is essential as they are the ones that interact with the wounded women who at times lie regarding their situation to safeguard the well-being of their spouses who might have afflicted injury. Gaining a proper understanding of all players and providing necessary information is critical in ending violence.
