Introduction
The authors' thesis statement that the empowerment of women so that they are included in the global economy is likely to lead to higher growth in the GDP of a country come vision 2025. The author state that this is good news for growth and enhancing equity when women engage in uneconomic activities. David Abney and Arancha Laya, the authors of the article state the issue of trade in the last thirty years describing how it has been a stabilizing pillar of the global community such that trade has created jobs, supported the development and spread of technology and ideas and has boosted productivity as well as expanding the choice of customers. However, economic exclusion has resulted from the rise of political risks of globalization in great measures that have led to many years of sluggish and growth that is unequally shared. The authors argue that most women are found in micro and small-sized enterprises where there are no many profits. However, lowering the barriers that women face will help to connect women internationally.
The main ideas of the author revolve around women empowerment so that they take a more significant role in the global economy. David and Arancha suggest that the only way to help women connect internationally is by lowering the barriers they face as entrepreneurs because the connection creates better-paying jobs for them. It is important to take gender into account during the development and implementation of trade policy. The women need placement at the heart of global policymaking which goes a long way in helping to achieve goals of gender equality and empowerment for women or girls. David and Arancha also state that the development of the economy and gender equality all go hand in hand and it is time people start investing more in supporting and developing the aspects of the global economy. They suggest that there need to be strategies to counter the challenge of slow empowerment for women economically and make the process systematic. The only thing that women lack as stated by David is the access to information, finance, and technology because they are capable of trading internationally.
David clearly describes the crucial issues facing trade because it is true that women are less available in the market, not because they do not have the capability but because they lack the essentials to perform well. Most women only own small businesses where they operate locally, and growth is sluggish. David makes logical and reasonable points that are ideal for addressing the concerns of women because they have been excluded from the international markets and operate on a local basis. There needs to progress in helping the women get to the global markets either directly or be part of global chains. Thus, they will be at a better position to ensure the global growth of trade to better levels compared to where it is right now.
Conclusion
The authors conveyed the meaning of the article very well with the use of simple, understandable grammar. David and Laya give a good scope of things, and his view on women empowerment sums up the need for women inclusion as they are a significant part of the economy and can lead to better growth. They express the information openly with the description of better trade times in the future that will be achieved when women take part in the market.
