Introduction
In addressing the state of American businesses from the United States of America's Chamber of Commerce point of view, the business prospects are on the rise. From surveys, there is an indication of a 2.6 percent growth rate, low inflation rates of the Fed's target of 2 percent, low unemployment rates, and expanding wages for the year 2019. Despite the talks of recession in recent times, the chamber believes that continued application, strengthening, and expansion of the American dream of economic freedom for each citizen will continue promoting the growth of the economy.
There are several issues of great concern. To begin with, the country needs to be concerned about its workforce and immigration issues. There needs to be more emphasis on quality education in the early stages, enhanced training, and retraining opportunities by the businesses to improve the skill set of the workforce. The veterans and military spouses should be given second chances in the labor force to put in practice their vast work experience. Additionally, on the issue of immigration, the chamber holds the view that genuine persons who want to explore their goals and contribute positively to the economy should not be blocked. However, more solutions need to be put forward to address the immigration problem fully.
Secondly, it is clear that a vibrant infrastructure creates additional opportunities in the economy. Owing to this fact, the government and the citizens need to be supportive of efforts to maintain this stature as well as bolster more infrastructural advancements. There is a general need to be all-inclusive in this - various groups such as the students, leaders, academicians, business people, and the entire citizenry need to have their views considered. Thirdly, on the issue of global trade, it is worth noting that the U.S. needs other countries of the world. The leadership is, therefore, advised to seek healthier economic partnerships with other states like Canada and Mexico. However, issues such as theft of intellectual property, forced transfer of technology, unfair trade, and industrial policies waged against China should be solved using proper means laid by international laws that do not bring economic strain to the U.S. citizens themselves. In this case, the Chamber rules out tariffs as they make U.S. citizens pay more in taxes. The Chamber further states that trade wars are not healthy in such a scenario.
It is further encouraged that leadership becomes responsible. In so doing, the leaders should be seen to not only support pieces of legislation that encourage the conduction of business but also draft and table regulations intended for similar motives in the Congress, even if they do not see the light of the day. Consequently, the Chamber intends to use these benchmarks to rank the leaders. Fifthly, the government, and other related business bodies such as the SEC should put into place regulations that promote business. In doing so, the businesses should be encouraged to continue positively impacting the lives of the communities and have proper ESG reports that reflect the true nature of their businesses.
Conclusion
In conclusion, with the growing threat of the emergence of authoritarian leadership, attacks on the democratic principles of governance and cybercrime, the US should consider offering their synergy to combat such practices. Drawing from the view of the founding fathers, each should be given a right to decide for themselves. Therefore, matters such as health that are so crucial to the economy should be left in the hands of the people by shunning excessive assertion of government influence and socialism. Notably, well-educated and competitive workforce, modernization of infrastructure, restoring responsible leadership, and combatting attacks on free businesses will culminate in the actualization of American dreams.
