Introduction

The Civil War triggered a huge effort to rebuild the Southern States and their society. The North wanted blacks to be integrated into society as soon as possible. However, the South was not as keen. The South actually wanted to end all Reconstruction efforts. Many sought to repair the bonds between former confederates and unions, but also addressed the issue of slavery and the consequences of granting them freedom rights. Reconstruction was killed by the South because of its lack of interest and violence towards the North, blacks, as well as the North's increasing indifference towards blacks.

The south was resistant to change during the period after civil war. They wanted to preserve white government and they didn't want former slaves to be in power. To accomplish this and other goals, secret societies were created. One of the most famous was KLUX KLAN also known as the KKK. To achieve their goal, this group took extreme measures. To achieve their goal, the KKK murdered and mutilated many people. A graphic published in Harper's Weekly shows an African American being held hostage by two white men, in front of a ballot box. This graphic shows how African Americans were threatened to vote for white men. This treatment of African Americans was not stopped by anyone. Because the south was unjust, no one was there for them or their rights.

The north tried to continue reconstruction after the war. However, due to the distractions and time spent, they lost focus on their primary goal. They also ignored injustices in south due to their crisis at that time. The problems of the south were ignored by the people in the north, who ended up neglecting them. Many northern voters began to pay more attention to national concerns, such as the panic of 1873. As the problems grew, the problem in the south was pushed back by the Northerners. Everyone was hurt in the South because of the neglect of the North.

Conclusion

The north and the south killed the time of reconstruction. The north failed to see the problems in the south, and the south resisted changes. I believed that the south had the literal and metaphorical blood on its hands. Many were "Foully killed" by the KKK or other secret groups with terrible agendas. Although the crime of committing murder in reconstruction was committed by both the south and the north, the south was responsible for the end result. While we don't know everything now, it is possible to play a significant role in government and leadership, where you can learn from the past and avoid making the same mistakes. Don't forget to learn from your mistakes.
