Introduction
I would choose to have a conversation with my Grandmother because I miss her and haven't spoken to her for a long time. I would want us to talk about life in the past and the future. As we order for our favorite meal which is the Lime pie, I would start by asking how she has been all the time that we have not seen and met each other. I would remind my grandmother that it has been three years since we last saw each other and therefore I would like her to tell me what she has been up to that never allowed her time to spend with us. My grandmother is soft-spoken, and her words are carefully chosen therefore before she answers I will give her time to choose her words carefully as she likes to do. I will make sure I give her maximum attention so that the conversation that we are having gets to flow smoothly.
My grandmother and I like to remind ourselves of the things that happened in the past. For this reason, would ask my grandmother to narrate to me a story about my father. I never saw my father since I was four years and now I am 16. I would make her relate to me why my father left me and what was the cause of their separation from Mum. I would ask her this as she eats. I would further explain to her that I would wish to see my father and know if he loved me because my mother could not allow me to see him and she could not tell me anything about him. As grandmother carefully explains, I will try to understand the reasons that she will present to me about my Father's case. This topic about my father often makes me emotional and therefore to avoid being crying I will give her time to speak and ask fewer questions on this matter.
My grandmother has always been my confidant. I would change the topic about my father and start on a new one about the goals that I have in life and how I would want to achieve them. I would tell my grandmother more about how my school is and the things that drove me from changing my career vision from being a surgeon to being a pediatrician. I know grandmother might get shocked why the sudden change in the career course. As she continues to eat, I would tell her how I suddenly developed an interest in children and how the practical surgery classes had become annoying to me. I would ask her her opinion on my decision to change the course. As we discuss we would try each other's food and comment about the cooking.
My grandmother is a fun person, and she likes to laugh at funny jokes that we had cracked in the past. I know we would have to do this session. I would point out a young girl and compare her with my grandmother, and we would both laugh out loud. She would, in turn, to look for an old person in the restaurant and tell me that that is how I look. This is a stupid game that we have always played with my grandmother whenever she took me out for lunch or to grab a casual bite. Since the time will be in the afternoon and the weather may be hot, I would order us each a cocktail before we finished eating. I know grandmother would joke to me that I want to kill her with too much sugar in the cocktail as she always does. I would reply with a joke that I have never met such an old woman who has no illness at all in her body and that her immunity was much stronger than mine. These jokes would be fun and make the conversation lovely.
In the process of finishing up our food, I would engage grandmother in a conversation concerning Atlanta where she currently lives. I would ask her how my grandfather is doing and whether he is taking his diabetes drugs. Grandmother knows that I get much worried about my grandfather and she tries not to tell me his situation plainly when he is not in good shape. I would ask her to tell me the truth about his condition and assure her that I will not feel bad. I would choose to talk about grandfather as we finish up because I understand that his sickness sometimes brings a sad mood. However, having this in mind I would ask about grandfather as I pick jokes on her to lighten the mood. Later I would engage her in a conversation concerning the beautiful places that she would love me to visit with her when I go down to Atlanta.
Conclusion
The conversation that I would have with my grandmother would mainly be about my father's disappearance out of my life. Also, I would tell her about my careers and goals that I would like to achieve in life. Making sure I maintain the happy mood of getting to see her after a long time we would crack the old jokes that we used to crack when we spent the time the two of us. My major aim will be to achieve a happy and worthwhile conversation over food with my grandmother.
