Technological development within the years has influenced major sectors of society. Apparently, the effects of technology are felt in children and all industries in general. There is no industry that technology has not influenced (McCoy 29). The effects of Communication, Transport, Medicine, Agriculture, Business, Education are indicators of how the technological advancement in our society. According to McCoy (Pg 8) technology has positively influenced education. Unlike in the past when education was expensive and hard to find, nowadays some classes are a click away. These developments technologically have made education cheap and affordable for most people. In fact, children who are learning in school currently will be the first-generation beneficiaries of online education.
Besides, technology is turning the world into a global village. People in different places at a different time can attend a single class and get tested with the same examination. This is an indicator of how fast and efficient it is to get an education. University(Pg 1) shows that it is even cheap as some of the online courses are free. Many people are now able to access education since even entertainment has taken different forms of edutainment and share knowledge to a large audience which was impossible in the past (Ronau, Rakes, and Niess 20). Thus, the effects of technology are majorly negative. Below are some of the educational related resources discussed in detail (McCoy 65).
Online Education
According to Inder (Pg 1), online education is the use of technological devices to enable accessibility of educational materials to a large group of people globally. Online education is like a cobweb of tools that people can use to access educational content.
Online Course versus Traditional courses
Traditionally, people attended classes to capture lessons from a lecturer or a teacher. Technology has introduced online courses that are offered through web links, youtube channels or live streaming on social media that enables people to access lessons from any part of the world at any time. This has reduced cost, time and distance. Hence many people can access information as opposed to the past. People prefer online classes as they can do personal follow-ups with the tutors and can do a test at their own given time. As opposed to traditional courses where people had to go to libraries to learn about everything nowadays such information is condensed and can be found online (Inder 20). This is a step towards eradicating illiteracy in the world which enables most people to develop solutions to the world.
The introduction of mobile devices makes it even easy as this information is now mobile. This is the case where we find people reading ebooks. Commonly, writers are advised to write both digital copies and hard copies to serve the needs of everyone in the market. Thus, people are now in a position of accessing education at the comfort of their phones as discussed by Ronau, Rakes, and Niess (Pg 20). This is cheaper and convenient for the many people in the world since people are now exposed to different resources online. However, the online education lacks credulity since most individuals who come up with the content are nor experts but I it is offered by a credible institution then the question of credibility dissolves.
Traditional Edutainment and Online Edutainment
Traditionally, education was considered entertaining if pictures were involved as shown by Ng, Karacapilidis and Raisinghani(Pg 59). In that, the images of the subject were drawn for the children to see to facilitate understanding. Nevertheless, online edutainment has changed the scope of education as children and adults are now in a position to understand different topics better and faster. Online edutainment for kids is easy to comprehend as it is interactive and virtual. This is so as teachers can use online content to teach students in class or at home. Online edutainment had introduced home-schooling for children whose parents are not in the position of teaching. This is a bridge of poverty in the society. It involves parents teaching their children using the online applications that are facilitated by technology. This is proving that the online edutainment is flexible than in the past as the children can understand the content easily and fast. Also, the television entertainment has taken a new course as they air programs that enable children to understand subjects easily and quickly.
Adults, on the other hand, have benefited from the online edutainment. In the past, traditionally the only edutainment that was popular was the acting of some of the books and use of infographics. Technology has revolutionized this into movies, songs, and even short clips. Some of the education content is derived from small clips online that equip people with life skills and competencies that are in line with their careers. The media has facilitated this by interviewing experts and giving exceptional knowledge to people of different professions which enable education to be more educating and entertaining than it was in the past. These technological developments have made education cheaper and informative than it was since people are now exposed to voices of different people that were not in a position to get into a class in a traditional setting. This enables people to be more informed.
The effects of technology on education cannot be underestimated for the different people who are involved. Below is a list of how it affects teachers and students.

The way teachers grade students have been affected as some do well at different levels considering how they understood the content. This is an enabling factor for teachers to help students to develop intellectually.

Technology is a benefit to teachers and students and bridges the gap of illiteracy in the society.
