Introduction
The current copyright law is strict and protective which aims at promoting authenticity and protecting copyrights of literary and academic products such as books, programs, articles and any published document (Fernandez-Molina, Moraes, & Guimaraes, 2017). The current copyright law is a significant barrier to the effective creation and implementation of e-learning classes in the United States. To be able to create a functional e-learning program one needs to avail articles and books for the learners through the online access point such as a portal or website (Fernandez-Molina et al., 2017). However, the current copyright law holds that after 1978 January 1st any works that are created are subject to copyright protection for the lifetime of the author and 70 years after the death of the author(s). Infringement of the law by copying copyright protected laws in the United States is very severe, and section 602 holds that it is an infringement to of the right of the author against any individual, agency or state that produces the copies of the work (Fernandez-Molina et al., 2017). As such, the Copyright Act of 1976 is very protective of the author needs and proposes severe criminal proceedings for those that infringe on the right of the owner. Title 18 chapter 113 on the stolen property it is illegal to document literary work, computer program or even phonorecord copyrighted learning materials.
Tools in the Current and Future E-Learning Environment for Instructors and Students
Electronic Portfolio
E-portfolio is a collection of electronic evidence which is assembled in accordance with relevance and managed by the user (Back, Behringer, Haberstroh, Ehlers, Sostmann, & Peters, 2016). An e-portfolio is a practical approach that can be used to collect the necessary learning materials and ensure that an e-learning platform is in compliant with all the copyright requirements (Miller & Morgaine, 2009). An e-portfolio helps to ensure that only selected individuals can access to learning materials.
Mobile Learning
M-Learning is increasingly becoming the primary access point for electronic evidence which makes it a suitable tool to include in an e-learning platform. It makes it easy for learners to access due to the increase in the number of people who have android fitted smartphones (Back et al., 2016). This makes it easy to track people accessing the platform and promotes site safety. Besides the flexibility offered by e-learning, it also supports multiple devices and increases the overall student's engagement.
