Introduction

The article titled The Rewards of Teaching is by a teacher who narrates her experiences while giving advice to other teachers. The author's main idea is that teaching has both responsibilities and rewards. The role comes with much more than many wannabe teachers may realize, and it can be quite overwhelming. All in all, teaching does have its rewards. The more a teacher gives to students, the more satisfaction he or she gets. According to the author, teaching is not just about helping students understand what is in the curriculum and textbooks. It also involves the teacher passing on his or her own life experiences to students and making it part of the learning process.

One thing I learned from the article is that it takes compassion and innovation to succeed in teaching. A teacher has to show students that he or she genuinely cares about them and is willing to do whatever it takes to make them excel in academic. For this to happen, the teacher must have passion for the profession as well as dedication. Also, certain educational settings or instances cannot succeed by applying normal teaching tactics and strategies. The teacher has to innovate and adapt to the situation in order to help students understand what they are learning. Sticking to the strategies laid down in the curriculum will not be effective in the long-run.

I also learned that the most enjoyable rewards of teaching are not the tangible ones but rather the emotional ones. Perhaps the best thing that a teacher can get from students is knowing that they understand what he or she teaches and are enthusiastic about it. Also, earning the students' trust is a very rewarding feeling and an indicator of success as a teacher. It makes the teacher humbled and proud of the role he or she has played in nurturing the student's academic life.

The writing style used by the article's author is in a logical sequence that makes sense. She starts by pointing out that being a teacher is not as easy as many would think. She then outlines the challenges that teachers face in the course of their duties. The author then mentions that a teacher has to give a lot in order to succeed, and that there are certain rewards that come with success. In the next part of the article, she explains a strategy that she uses to get through to students and help them in their academic life. She then outlines the type of rewards that successful teachers get, and which of those are most enjoyable. In each of the explanations, she gives real-life examples from her own experiences as a teacher.

My top goal as a teacher is to educate properly. I am expected to instill learning to students by discussing the concepts of any topic and how they can apply what they learn in mundane activities. It is only by educating students properly that will enable them get the will to learn what is being discussed. My other goal is to be an inspiration to my students. I strive to show students the attitude of a passionate and determined educator. I hope that this can inspire them to persevere and deal with any challenges that they may encounter in the course of their studies.
