Introduction

Classroom management encompasses activities the teacher carries out to facilitate learning. Teaching philosophy, on the other side, is fundamental knowledge, and reality the academic discipline is based on. It determines the attitude of teaching. This paper will discuss classroom management plan by analyzing various teaching philosophies, physical classroom environment, emotional, behavioral, relationship, theoretical, and teacher's role.

Teaching Philosophies

There are opposing views concerning what teaching philosophies are applicable in the learning and the practice of education. There is a general confusion about what the young should learn either about virtue or the best life. It is not clear whether education should be directed more towards building the character or the intellect. The main objective of this article is to tackle the theoretical considerations affecting children's growth and development when undergoing learning. The roles of a teacher are explained too as well as a reflection about what I have learned in the course and my experiences as a teacher.

Physical Environment

There is a close correlation between student behavior, achievement, and the structure of the physical environment. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure the learning environment conducive to boost learning. Such an environment is safe, secure, well aerated, space, and efficient lighting ought to be considered (Follari, 2015). The classroom ought to be placed in an environment free from pollutions, disruptions, and distractions. A quiet and comfortable learning environment not only boosts the students' learning. Growth and development but also increase the morale and motivation of the teacher to guide the learners.

Emotional Environment

Emotional perspective is vital to be included in the classroom management plan. Considering the emotional environment, stress management strategies among the students ought to be included in the Classroom management plan. Students are vulnerable to stress related to family issues, pressures from parents and friends, social class barriers, and even personal weakness (Follari, 2015). This can negatively affect their learning. Teachers are considered psychological counselors. Therefore, it is their work to come up with the best ways for students in dealing with stress.

Behavioral Environment

Learning is sometimes defined in terms of mannerism (Agarkar & Brock, 2017). Learning is considered to have taken place when there is a change in behavior. In my classroom management plan, I plan to teach the students to be self-directed. Self-discipline is what I highly cherish. As a leader, I will set a good example for them. I will encourage the spirit of self-evaluation amongst students. Both negative and positive reinforcement such as punishment and rewards, will be used where applicable.

Relationship

Parents play an essential role in students' learning (Agarkar & Brock, 2017). Therefore, to ensure healthy students' functioning, especially academically, parents have to participate in school-based activities. In my classroom management plan, I plan to ensure effective both formal and informal communication between the staff and the parents. Parents will be allowed to participate actively and contribute to developmental projects touching the students. This will create a good relationship, trust, and collaboration between the staff and the parents. At long haul, learners will significantly benefit through getting full support of the teachers and the parents.

Theoretical Perspective

Learning can be better be understood through understanding the various principles governing how individuals acquire, retain, and retrieve knowledge. The principles are based on existing learning theories. Among the different approaches that explain the acquisition of knowledge and skills are: behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism. Behaviorism is based on BF Skinner concept of operant conditioning. According to this concept, a learner is viewed as an empty slate that must be provided with experience (Agarkar & Brock, 2017). Behaviorists have it that learning only occurs when there is a change in behavior or when new behaviors are acquired through the association of stimuli and responses. In teaching, behaviorism is applicable when teachers reinforce students through either rewarding them or punishing the students according to their behavior about the expected one.

Teachers' Role

Mainly the role of the teacher is known to be giving classroom instructions and presentation of ideas and concepts to students. In extension, the teacher has a role in guiding the learners to apply the concepts and ideas learned in real life and solving of problems (Follari, 2015). Teachers, however, have a lot to do beyond the mentioned. Teachers have a role as disciplinarians, mentors, role models, counselors, and planners. This is especially with elementary school teachers who play a significant role in learners' development, shaping their future lives.

Reflection

As a teacher candidate, I have learned that teaching goes beyond just education and giving instructions in the classroom. Teaching is grounded on certain philosophies such as behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism (Agarkar. & Brock, 2017). The three theories are interconnected. The learner ought to develop the thought process, which is reflected in behavior change. It is the work of the teacher to guide the student in applying the knowledge gained effectively in real life, especially in solving the problem, making decisions and research. This makes me believe in guiding the student to be self-directed right from the first day of interaction.

Appendix 1

Excellent communication skills, creativity, flexibility, patient, a sense of humor, and appreciation that all children are different are essential traits of a teacher. Parental support is vital in student learning. Therefore, means to achieve the above ought to be reflected in the classroom management plan.

Appendix 2

Ensuring that all parents are united and are part of the big classroom family is the greatest challenge. This can be due to the different beliefs, social status, and perceptions different families have concerning education. Therefore, as a teacher, I have learned to understand each parent and family background to help all parents understand why things have to be carried out the way they are carried out. When the parents appreciate the way things are carried out, they will willingly and actively participate and contribute to their children's process of learning.

Appendix 3

As role models and disciplinarians, the teacher has a role in ensuring discipline amongst the learners. The best way to ensure discipline is making the learners be self-guided on their dealings hence self-disciplined. Therefore, the teachers learn to do the right thing, at right pale at the right time without supervision. This will help them much in the future when they are captains of their ship.

Appendix 4

The theory of constructivism is based on the interpretation and perceptions of the learner based on their experiences. The theory stipulates that every individual is perceived as unique and different. Using the same knowledge gained through learning, individuals can construct new different ideas and applications. This is usually applicable in problem-solving, collaborating with others, and even carrying out research. The ultimate goal of teaching is to enable students to develop the ability to apply the knowledge and skills gained in solving situations in real life, effectively collaborate with others, and conduct meaningful researches.

Conclusion

The classroom management plan is likewise based on certain philosophies. The primary purpose of the classroom management plan is to enable them to determine how best to organize, manage, and motivate students. The various perspectives in classroom management include; physical classroom environment, emotional, behavioral, relationship, theoretical, and teacher's role.
