What clocks into your mind when the world water is mentioned to you? In my thought I take water to mean joy, peace and solidarity. Water is a bonding and uniting factor between different creatures in the world. The term water has been used in different disciplines to give different meanings and impression about different situations in life. In the biological world, water is seen as the main supporter of life. All the living things creatures in the world need water for survival as over seventy-five percent of their body masses are made up of water. The body serum of animals is made of water and so are the plant excretions and other important components. Water is perceived to be the origin of life since the components used to make live right from conception are all in the aqua state.

Water in the world occurs in different forms that include lakes, seas, oceans, rivers, springs and glaciers. Water can be found on the earths surface as well as below the earth crust. Water under the earths surface is referred to as underground water and an artificial mechanism ha to be used to bring it to the surface for it to be useful to the life. Water on the earths surface is known as ground water and iv readily available to support the continuity of life for the living organisms on earth. Water is a valuable commodity in the world today due to its unmatched importance to the human life and other creatures causing great concerns to the environmentalist when glacier and ice caps form on the poles and other regions due to global warming. The available water on the world is of importance whether it is the fresh water we drink or the saline sea water unfit for human consumption as it brings the hydrological cycle balance that stabilizes the ecosystem.

The Standard English dictionary defines water as an odourless, colourless, transparent and tasteless liquid made of hydrogen and oxygen molecules (H2O). The two molecules combine to give a compound that is of great importance for chemical processes in the body of human and other living organisms. Water freezes at 0C or 32F and boils at 100C and changes to vapour form. The vapour can be converted to liquid through a process known as condensation and further to solid through the freezing process. Water is considered to be pure when it contains no other foreign elements other than hydrogen and oxygen. Water contains 11.188 percent of hydrogen and 88.812 percent of oxygen by mass.

Water has many names since its discovery that include old english water, proto-Germanic water, from PIE, Wod-or, from root wed, Hittite water, Sanskrit wundan, latin unda, Gaelic uisge water, greek hydor, Russian voda, wundan,and old church Slavonic old Prussian. The definition has since been developed over many centuries to become what it is in the modern world.

Water is not sand but it carries the sand in it. Water is ice but can freeze to form it. Water has many uses in the modern world and is used as a raw material for many domestic and industrial processes. Water has many economical advantages to our modern states. It is a very import mode of sea transport where heavy merchandize are transported reducing the congestion in our road network. The sea water business works to benefit many entrepreneurs ranging from the manufactures, the sea equipment operators, the tax collectors and the involved states and governments. Water is a recreation facility enabling both porting activities and leisure. Swimming competitions and diving exercises are all done on the water bodies. it brings national and international cohesion when different people from across the globe meet and interact in these events.

Water is used to produce hydro-electricity power that is a driver of many economies in the world. Water is not energy but cab be used to produce energy. Water is not electricity but is very useful in producing electricity. Electricity from the water is used to run machine in ICU that helps to sustain life for critically ill patients. Water is used to irrigate dry lands thus enhancing a constant source of food supply thus averting hunger and drought. The animals need water to survive. Water is used as a solvent to make useful solutions at our homes, hospitals and factories. Foliar spraying will need water to dilute the chemicals in our farms before spraying to the crops. It makes the minerals and the chemical to be highly soluble to the plants and animals. Water is used as a coolant in our cars, factory engines preventing them from blowing up.

Water has been used and is still used in many churches to signify holiness, peacefulness and sanity to our way of life. Baptism for many denominations is by means of water either by pouring or submerging the believer in water. Holy water is believed to cleanse demonic acts by different religions. In our homes water is used as a cleaning agent and a way of keeping the germs away. In conclusion, water is simply life. Without water the world would be lifeless. On the contrary water has been a taker of life in many cases when people drown and die.
