In the manufacturing process, the first step is to cut the blank which involves two-piece drawing and wall ironing, and it begins from the point of an aluminum ingot. This is the first step in the manufacture of beverage cans, and this is the process that involves cutting the sheet into a circle called a blank which would then for the bottom and the sides of a can. The next process to the redraw the cup, and this is where the small cup that results from the initial draw is taken to the second machine where the can help in a precise position then a punch is done into the container to redraw the diameter. Trimming the ears is the third step, and this results from the process of ironing and drawing process where the resulting material has a wavy nature which is called ears. In this way, there is a need to control the placement of ears where their height is also influenced by the right machining process. Next is the process of cleaning and decorating where there is the machining and decorating process leaves the resulting instrument smooth and clearly shaped for the next manufacturing process.
Next is the machining of the lid of the beverage cans, and which are made of an alloy of slightly different aluminum as compared to the base and the sides of the can. The inward of the cans bulges to create the required shapes and make it easier to make the right shapes of the cans. In this manner, the bulging of the cans also helps them to withstand pressures during the manufacturing process. The result is a stronger metal where the lid is lid is thicker than the walls to help in the distribution of pressures to make the material steady in its use.
Possible Substitute to Manufacture Process to Beverage Cans
An alternative to the casting method used in the manufacture of beverage cans is machining process, and this is where there is the application of machines to help in cutting, bending, drilling and shaping the material into the right shape to be used for beverages. The method of machining involves various types of processes such as drilling, milling, turning, and grinding. The alternative gives the opportunity to decide the method that can be employed in the manufacture of cans and deliver the cans of the right shapes and sizes which are beneficial to the population.
Limitations
There are various limitations in the materials and substitute materials used in the manufacture of beverage cans, and one is that they have weak structures thereby making it challenging to machining the cans according to the needs of the clients. There is a need to acknowledge that the defects in the recyclable cans prove to be leading to various challenges in the manufacturing process and makes it challenging to produce the right shape. The second limitation is the impurities that coexist with the recyclable raw materials and which affect the manufacturing process in various ways and leads to defects in the final product. There is a need to acknowledge that there is a need to sort out the raw materials before the manufacturing process starts and create an avenue of manufacturing the cans that can fulfill the needs of the client. By identifying the challenges manufacturers face in the process of manufacturing the cans, there is the ease of developing processes that can help in the withstand the challenges that manufacturers face in the process of manufacturing beverage cans.
