Introduction
Devotion is a term in Christianity and among the Muslims which means that people should obediently submit to God. Commitment can also be termed as the personal investment where one invests their time, feeling, substance and energy to worship the Lord. For people to become devoted they have to get rid of the lies which exist in the society such as life is busy to become dedicated to God and the misconception that it is only Christians who should be devoted the supernatural being. The scripture in the book of Psalms 1:3 states that the people who usually pay attention to God's word are like the tree which is planted by the streams of water which produces its fruits throughout the season and its leaves do not wither. The devotion life is vital to the persons' life since it makes them strong and not to become swayed by the challenges which they encounter in their daily life. Therefore, this paper will focus on the holy habits among the people.
Steps of Conducting Devotion
The person should make decisions on the time to conduct devotions thus making it an appointment with God, and it has to be kept on their daily calendar. Creating time for commitments makes the person become committed and not to skip it. There is no particular time which termed as being appropriate for devotions, but during the morning hours, it can be appropriate due to fewer interruptions. During the morning hour's people tend to receive less call or visit from friends (Whitney, 2016). Therefore, setting time for devotion during the morning, lunch hours or before tiring to bed it can be the best time.
Consequently, deciding on the right place leads to the success of a person's devotion to life. People who tend to spend quality hours with God while lying on the bed can lead to failure since one might fall asleep. It is good for a person to decide and set a comfortable area where they can be conducting their devotion. One can keep all the devotional tools in one place so that to minimize movement during the whole process of dedication. For example, following the holy books, bible, journals and a pen at a specific place will help one to become ready for the devotions. Also, the person can spend as much time as possible during devotions (Whitney, 2016). For the starters, they can begin with fifteen minutes and later to stretch as they get used to the devotion life. Therefore, with an appropriate time and a right time frame, people will be successful in their devotion life and habits.
The person can make decisions on the plan to be followed in reading the bible or participating in the bible study. This makes the person know the readings in the holy book and a close connection with God. The study guide will help the person to focus on the study and time of reading. Individuals who read random bible verses tend to have difficulties in understanding and applying the scriptures learned from the holy book. Also, after reading the sacred book the person can spend time praying since it is a way of communication with God. The believer talks to God and tell Him about their struggles, cares and later listens to Gods' voice (Tozer, 2013). In 1st Kings 19:12 it states that we are supposed to give God time so that He can answer our prayers. Therefore, the person should spend more time meditating about Gods' word thus making the devotion life a success.
The person can consider drafting a journal since it helps the Christians stays on the right track during the holy life - also, Christians who journal their prayers and thoughts aids in the provision of an appropriate record. Journaling can help in determining the answered prayers which the Christian requested God. For journaling to be effective, the Christian can ensure they commit themselves to their divine plan. Since maintaining commitment for devotion is hard, ensure you are in the course despite the failure one experiences during the devotional life (Tozer, 2013). When one messes up, they can pray to God to request for the help thus being able to start up once again and experiencing the rewards as one grows more in-depth in the love of God.
Conclusion
The devotional habits help believers to be in touch with the maker thus keeping the Christian in a place where they receive their blessing and life from God. People tend to be connected to God by default but whenever they stay away from their master one tends to cut off their flow of life. Through religious habits, one allows the Holy Spirit to manifest in their lives since it feeds and reveals an individual's spirit. The religious habits make the person mature in their spiritual life and the likeness of Christ. Also, the person develops fellowship with Christ through the Holy Spirit as they read and internalize the word of God. Therefore, holy habits tend to be vital to humans life as it is beneficial in spiritual growth.
