Emirates Logistics is one large company that is known for its logistics delivery services. It, due to its growth, has been able to set up affiliate companies in the region around its headquarters. Its head office is based in Abu Dhabi. It has been faring well in the global business table since its incorporation. However, in the recent past, the company has been experiencing heavy losses (Zhang, 2016). In addition to that, most of their trucks have been reported of late deliveries. That aside, the company has been facing issues with employees being unable to account for the loss of company property (Lenin, 2016). Such have been seen to be dragging the company down regarding finances. The companys name or its public image has also been tainted as a result of this unethical practices. To salvage the company from its current situation, there called for urgent action by the stakeholders in the company. As the operations manager in the company, I decided to come up with a strategy or rather a process that would see the companys productivity improve and these strategies are bound for discussion in this paper.
To begin with, the first initiative that would be implemented is the empowerment of employees. The employees are the people that are deemed with the responsibility of ensuring that productivity in a company is guaranteed hence empowering them would mean motivation on their side and the will deliver duties willingly (Dresner & Zou, 2016). Once willing to do something, it is definite that the aftermath would be quality. Cases such as lateness and lack of accountability will not be present if the employees are empowered. Therefore, the first initiative that the company needs to put into consideration is the issue of employee empowerment.
Second, to enhance improved productivity in the business, certain processes that are unnecessary ought to be eliminated. The presence of these additional processes is what create loopholes through which the employees may try out unethical practices. Removal of theses unnecessary processes will enable easier supervision of the operations of the company. In addition to that, there are certain tasks that if present, result to repetitiveness among the employees in the sense that they are redundant. With such tasks, cases of overlapping among the employees are possible hence the reduced productivity which in turn leads to losses incurred.
On to the third point, the company should think of a program that would see its employees given proper training on how to conduct their duties properly. This would see some skills imparted on the employees. Inculcation of these skills in their operations would see an improvement in the same. The training would also serve as a reminder to the employees on some of the concepts needed in the company that they either knew or forgotten about. It would be of significance to the productivity of the company.
Finally, the last initiative the company would come up with is setting or rather stipulating clearly the companys goals and objectives. By so doing the employees would be able to know what is expected of them. They will, therefore, work round the clock to ensure that the firms objectives are met. As they work hard to ensure the goals of the company are met, they shall be improving the productivity of the company, and this would, in turn, lead to increased profit margins.
To tackle the imbalance in productivity using the process outlined above, as an operational manager in the company, I would follow a particular procedure. This I would do to ensure that the process described in the text above serves effectively. First I would map the process just as done in this text but then in a more comprehensive way. This would be followed by a thorough analysis of the process. After that, I would communicate the changes or rather the prospecting process to the employees. All that said and done, I would ensure that the resources needed to make sure that the above process is implemented are acquired. After the acquisition, I would urge for the implementation of the process. If the above processes are inculcated and the procedure to ensure the application followed, then the company will have an improvement or rather balance in productivity.
