Gordon Lankton made sure that his culture of competitiveness drove his innovation to make sure that he is the best in the precision custom plastic production in the world. He was also building Nypro as an innovation incubator where all his employees were trained and incubated to get the best out of them. This encouraged most workers because he had created a good environment and an assurance for the employees of their job.
The most successive companies give it a chance for new ideas to be test without restrictions. This was one of the company strategies at Nypro, where innovators were given a chance to come up with new technologies and allowed to test them freely. It is also very crucial to build a culture of experimentation in the company where members experiment things to see what comes out of it. This gives employees a good environment for innovation. Its also important to have a comment box where members can put in their ideas, suggestions and queries so as relevant authorities may see how everything is going on. Where there is a problem or poor management to help the company improve and create a friendly environment for innovation.
There was an innovation of clean-room manufacturing philosophy that was brought by Warren Brook, this was to make sure that all industries were to be made clean. This idea was reject in 1970s but Brook came up with the clean-room facility in 1979 and was used to clean Nypros one of the plant (Clayton M. Christensen & Rebecca Voorheis 1998).After sometime there was high production in that plant and after that the facility was adopted by Puerto Rico Company manager and requested that all the plants to install the facility which boosted the company production. This in turn was one of the rewarding facility to Warren Brooks for his innovation. Companies should encourage their employees and in most cases reward them for the good innovation they are doing the company.
In conclusion Gordon Lankton has really worked had for his Nypro company to achieve every success he wanted. He believed in innovation and new ideas to compete others on the market. He allowed his members to be free and freely come up with new ideas and experimented ideas at no cost. Companies need to know that a good environment is the mother of all innovation.
