Animal welfare refers to how well the animal is being treated by those that take care of them. Every animal requires protection and this entails taking care of its physical and mental needs. Organizations have implemented certain habits to protect animals. These solutions include laws that have been set up for those that domesticate animals. The laws ensure that the animals are healthy, safe, well nourished, comfortable and not suffering from fear and distress.
Individuals are required to adopt positive habits that will influence animal welfare. These habits include taking the animal to a veterinary for treatment and to prevent diseases, providing an appropriate shelter for the animal and providing them with the right kind of food, water. An animal that is well taken care of expresses itself through its behavior and productivity. Different animals are used for certain reasons such as companionship, food and recreation. All these animals should be treated in a humane way. The environment in which these animals are put in should be in a good condition.
People should ensure that these animals do not suffer from stress, pain, suffering or fear. They should treat the animals with respect and dignity throughout their lives. The houses that the animals are put in should be cleaned on a daily basis to reduce the chances of them being infested by lice. They should also be cleaned using insecticides regularly. This will help keep the animal healthy and comfortable for a long time. People should also consider the population of animals they rear. The numbers should be controllable and socially responsible.
Additionally, organizations that cater for the welfare of animals have set up rules and regulations that aim at protecting the rights of animals. Those that do not follow the rules and regulations face severe charges. These institutions have also come up with programs whereby people are educated on how to take care of animals and the consequences that come along with mistreating them. There are animal rescue centers where animals without shelter are taken care of. However, those that are interested in adopting these animals visit these centers. Certain conditions should be met for one to qualify to adopt an animal from the rescue centers.
The daily, monthly and yearly habits that people should adopt to ensure positive change for animal welfare should not vary. These habits should remain the same at all times and to all animals. Whatever their purpose, all animals should be treated equally. Like human beings, animals too have freedoms. It is ones right to offer quick diagnosis and treatment as well as prevention so that the animals are free from injury, pain and disease. Additionally, for an animal to be free to express its innate behavior, it should be given space, the facilities it requires and another animal of the same kind.
In conclusion, some people believe that animals should not be treated in a humane manner because they are unable to express themselves through speech. Similarly, there are those that believe animals should not be regarded as property since they too have rights and freedoms. Argumentatively, animals may not be able to communicate what they feel but are able to express it. Therefore, animals should be treated with respect and in a humane manner. For those that are killed for meat and their hides, should be given a proper death.
