With that, there has been fuelled animosity between all religions against Islam as the media has managed to brand the religion in such a manner. With this, there is continued uprising against any insurgency from the Muslim brothers against those interfering with their fundamental principles of worship (Miller). With social media, the world is at the heart of a revolution. A small occurrence will receive millions of views with a small amount of time. The invention of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms has provided the less fortunate with a platform on which they can share and air their grievances. The populaces hat are unsatisfied with their leaders can this day resort to the social media platform and express their grievances. With that, they can communicate and invite other groups that uphold the same views thereby increasing their numbers (Malcolm). Such increase in number at times leads to people revolting against that they are not happy. The old government of the past that used any form to thwart any form of unrest have been subdued. This has been achieved because of the power of social media. For example, the people of Egypt in the year 2011 revolted against their government leading to the removal of Hussein Mubarack. This was achieved with the aid of social media.

At present, the power and attention that is given to social media have increased exponentially. The young and old, the less privileged and the privileged and the student all resort to social media to air their grievances. Students in different campuses all over the world have resorted to the social media to protest against leaders whom they do not like. They have even protested against the living condition in the campuses and much more. Protesting through social media makes the oppressed gain attention in a much shorter time which may eventually lead to a revolution depending on the sensitivity of the matter being addressed. In the January of 2016, students from Colgate University protested against the First Amendment from Yale to Missouri (Jeffrey). All this was made possible because of Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter of which the power of social media was depicted.

The social media has provided the world leaders with the power to reach the masses at the shortest time possible. For example, currently, with the upcoming elections in the United States, both Clinton and Trump are reaching their supporters through social media. They are resorting to Twitter and Facebook to express the reason as to why the supporters need to support them. With that, the leaders are convincing the masses to revolt against the opinions of the other.

The power of social media is irrefutable. However, the present world has been made much more complicated with the advent of technology in the form of globalized transportation, communication, and the supply chains. Happening in any part of the world impact the world rapidly and sharply. The states are being torn apart along the sectarian stratum in Iraq, the tribal divisions in Afghanistan, the Gaza territorial fence and the national safeties in Ukraine. The conflicts are portending a quickening unrest globally. Over the next decade, great nations may end up splitting into smaller nations. The chief and principal driver of balkanization is the social media and therefore the chief driver of a revolution.

The ISIS, Alshababu, and other terrorist groups post videos of them mistreating and beheading human beings. They expose to the world what they advocate for and that they are against through social media (Gunter). With that, they can reach millions of sympathizers some of which end up joining them with their course. Through social media, the terror cells can drive their course through to the end. In the recent times, the terror cells are accepting responsibility for their actions through the posting of the messages on social media. Such messages depending on how they are received may end in fueling a revolution.

Even though social media has disadvantages, there are also significant benefits that come with its utilization (Hanson). Throughout the globe, the dissemination of information has been made easier. People can communicate quickly and share some great moment irrespective of the distance. It is, therefore the responsibility of respective governments to guard social media so that its intended purpose is realized for the betterment of the world. Social media will continue to grow on and on and its the responsibility of the individuals to take accountability of what they post.
