Quality assurance is a vital aspect in healthcare facilities since it improves accuracy in documentation and administration of drugs such as allergy drugs. Balance scorecard is one of the strategic planning and system management tool used in healthcare to ensure efficacy in documenting drug allergy. Balance scorecard enables proper control and monitoring of organization activities to ensure efficiency is enhanced at each level of allergy drug documentation and administration. In UK use of BSC has secured a tremendous improvement in documentation of its drugs (Gurd & Gao, 2017). In Ireland use of the balance, scorecard has enhanced the quality of patient outcome in most healthcare facilities (Smith & Loonam, 2017). Despite some of the failures that have been witnessed the system has been reliable in drug allergy in most hospital facilities. According to Yuen and Ng (2017)) the estimated failure percentage is 70, which is way above their expected success rate. However, currently, the strategies used in BSC have been improved and modernized to counter the failures that were there before. In most instances balanced scorecard is often used to identify the measures that the organization deems critical for example, documentation and strategies that can move the organization to the next echelon. According to (Smith & Loonam, 2017) use of balance scorecard has enabled most healthcare staff to set achievable objective in allergy drug documentation. The set goals will ensure that the healthcare practitioners have enhanced accuracy in administering drug allergy. Moreover, BSC creates a platform where the agendas of the organization are prioritized. For instance in Drug allergy proper and accurate documentation must be the aim of healthcare practitioners. With accurate documentation, patient's records and progress will be easily accessible, and this will ensure that their recovery path is not derailed. BSC is, therefore, a performance measurement tool that focuses on translating organization vision and mission into all-inclusive strategically aligned measures to ensure that quality is enhanced. In drug allergy, BSC aims at ensuring that the outcome of documentation and drug administration benefits the patients involved in the framework. With BSC in drug allergy, each staff member must understand the roles and obligations in the healthcare facility (Yuen & Ng, 2017). BSC has proved to be one of the unique methods of measuring performance at healthcare facilities; it ensures that quality is delivered since it gives organization mission life regarding measuring it.
