This a form of communication model that tries to explain the verbalization by people in their attempt to communicate. Essentially, it deals with how people learn to speak in order for them to communicate. The model tries to explain the fact that communication does not take place in a vacuum. There is reception of information from incidences such as human interaction and environment stimuli. The construction of this model was from the parent and child communication process, especially when the child is learning how to speak. The focus was on how the children eventually learn how to talk. Normally parents speak slowly and repetitively when they are communicating with their children. There is also use of less complex language and the conversations are typically shorter. In cases where the children are not involved in these kind of interactions in their process of learning a particular language they are noted to have a slower rate of learning how to speak due to lack of much practice with the people that are around them.

My interest in this communication model stemmed from the fact that the communication process is a complex process and more so if it involves communicating with children. More so, the process of learning how to communicate from an early stage is an intriguing one and hence through this model the complex process is really simplified and understandable. The fact that people communicate differently and have varying decodes to particular messages sent to them also swayed me to settle on this particular model as it helps explain these varying aspects in the communication aspect. The model explains that the environment greatly influences how the children eventually develop their language habits and thus it is crucial to have a right environment so that the children can develop the proper communication behaviour. Hence, one can explain the different communication behaviour by people by looking at their biological process and the environment that they were brought up in too. I think through the understanding of effect of environment on communication, then there can be emphasis and research on the right way to communicate with the children from an early age so that they can be better communicators in future and this is a crucial aspect that attracted me to this model.

The strength of this particular model is that it accounts for complex aspect of parents communicating with their children way before the children do have the ability to actually speak fluently. Through use of non-verbal interaction and expressions as well parents are able to know what the children want. The model can also be employed in other scenarios such as communication with physically and mentally challenged people like people with autism to develop effective ways to communicate with them. However, a weakness of this model is that it does not explain the similar systematic stages that are seen when children are learning a certain language and in different environments. Children are expected to be in different stages if the language development was based experiences and interaction with others. There is also not enough research and information on the amount of interaction required and necessary to develop a certain language.

This is a very simple model that is really helpful in simplifying the communication process that exists between children and parents and the subsequent development of communication process by the children. The model can be very useful for people seeking to understand the influence of the environment on the communication aspect of people. The model shows that not only the biological processes influence communication but also the environment.
