Introduction
I think water and water systems which are under the mandate of Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) is our most vulnerable critical infrastructure. Water is the most vulnerable because of the number of people that have access to essential water systems such as lakes, dams, and rivers. It also makes for an easy target because of the number of people that drink untreated water in the United States. According to Rice (2018), millions of Americans are exposed to unsafe drinking water every year. If a fraction of that number gets access to contaminated water, it could spell disaster for the whole nation. The best way to avoid such a disaster is to minimize the channels that people use to access untreated drinking water using non-structural mitigation measures. The EPA can make adjustments to the environmental laws and make sure the community water systems adhere to all the regulations and requirements to guarantee that all Americans drink safe water as mentioned by Nemeth (2016).
America has one of the most massive borders in the world that are reasonably secure compared to most countries. The only problem is the number of people that want to get into America is higher than in other countries, therefore, giving the border protection units a challenge. Securing the borders for purposes of national security is essential. There are a lot of elements outside American boundaries that would want to harm the nation. Furthermore illegal immigrants don't pay taxes, and as a result, the nation loses billions of dollars in tax revenue and illicit trade (Homeland Security, 2018). The bible says in the book of Deuteronomy 10:19(New International Version)," And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt." Therefore any foreigner who comes to America is welcomed and loved. However, they have to make sure they follow due procedure when crossing Americans borders because the same bible says," Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God,"(Romans 13:1 English Standard Version). It, therefore, makes a lot of sense to make border security a priority. I think the best way for the U.S to secure its border is by adopting structural mitigation measures. There has to be a man made a physical barrier on the northern and southern boundaries of the U.S.
