Introduction

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when an egg from the ovary of a woman is fertilized and implanted in the fallopian tube due to blockage which makes it hard for the egg to travel to the womb where the fetus may grow. The complication is also called tubal pregnancy since it is an abnormal pregnancy that is present in the fallopian tube (Bakken et al. 168). The condition can cause problems to the woman and hence it needs to be eliminated through treatment. The pregnancy is associated with an infection that occurs in the fallopian tube which may cause it to be blocked thus making it hard for the movement of the fertilized egg (Adewunmi et al. 118). Ectopic pregnancy may be caused by abortion, smoking, Chlamydia Trachomatis, and alcohol abuse among other reasons (Chrysostomou et al. 103- 105). Women who are infected with Chlamydia Trachomatis have very high possibility of experiencing an ectopic pregnancy.

Data collected from laboratories where records of the women who had suffered from Chlamydia Trachomatis has shown that most of them later experienced an ectopic pregnancy. Bakken et al. did a research in a hospital where they collected information of the patients who had suffered Chlamydia Trachomatis and later followed up on their situations during pregnancy. They discovered that the majority of the women who were indicated to suffer from Chlamydia Trachomatis later experienced an ectopic pregnancy. Naderi at al. did a research in Iran to compare the relationship between the Chlamydia Trachomatis and ectopic pregnancy. The research that majority of the patients suffering from STIs associated with Chlamydia Trachomatis later had an ectopic pregnancy (Naderi et al 820). Therefore, the available statistics proved that females infected with Chlamydia Trachomatis were likely to have a tubal pregnancy.

Tests that have been done using anti-Chlamydia antibodies have proved that ectopic pregnancy is common among women who are infected with Chlamydia Trachomatis. Agholor et al. conducted a research where antibodies were induced into the bodies of different women who had been infected with Chlamydia Trachomatis and others who were not infected (Agholor et al. 433). Serological tests were conducted on the blood sample and it was discovered that serum was discovered among women with Chlamydia Trachomatis hence the likelihood of experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. Serological experiments that were also done by Adewunmi et al. indicated that women with CT may suffer the tubal pregnancy (Adewunmi et al. 119). Additionally, Chlamydia Trachomatis is linked to lead to pelvic inflammatory disease among the women and infertility among the men. It is the pelvic inflammatory disease that is closely linked to ectopic pregnancy (Enwuru and Sarah 50).

Chlamydia Trachomatis cannot be taken to be the main cause of ectopic pregnancy. There are other reasons why many the tubal pregnancy may occur in the life of a woman. Firstly, the age of a woman greatly contributes to the occurrence of the complication. Women who are beyond the age of 35 years are likely to suffer from the problems since their fallopian tubes may be blocked thus making it hard for the egg to move to the uterus. Secondly, previous induced abortions may cause the problems since the abnormal pressure cause may block the fallopian tube.

However, although various research proves that people suffering from ectopic pregnancy were infected with Chlamydia Trachomatis it may not be the cause. Most people with the STIs which hosts Chlamydia Trachomatis are also likely to engage in other activities such as alcoholism, smoking, and may have previously engaged in abortion. Therefore, even though the test may show that the affected person has symptoms of the bacteria it may not be the cause of the tubal pregnancy.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Chlamydia Trachomatis is linked to being the main cause of ectopic pregnancy. Research and medical tests have confirmed that the majority of the people who are infected with STIs caused by Chlamydia Trachomatis are likely to experience the tubal pregnancy. However, all the cases of ectopic pregnancy cannot only be associated with Chlamydia Trachomatis since they are other causes. Alcoholism, smoking, and age of beyond 35 years among the women.
