Introduction
An executive order is usually a directive issued by the sitting American president in line with the constitution. The orders are meant to oversee the operations of the federal government and have some connections with the force of the law. Nevertheless, there is a huge difference between executive orders and law. The mainly differ in the manner in which they are made. There is a process that a law has to pass through. It has to undergo legislation in the two houses of Congress in the US followed by the presidential asset. In case any of the procedures is compromised, a law cannot stand out. When it comes to executive orders, these steps are unnecessary. If anything, the office of the president is the standout figure when it comes to executive orders.
The president is the only person in the US allowed to issue such directives. According to the Journal of Politics (2000), the powers to issue executive orders are provided for by the American constitution as well as other laws that govern the state. In line with the constitution, the president has to come up with measures and directives to ensure that the executive arm is fully functional and achieves its maximum potential. President Donald Trump has used the powers instilled upon him by the constitution to issue several executive orders. One of the most famous orders is that issued on May 25, 2018. It falls under budgetary and expenditure measures. It is an executive order on "Promoting Accountability and Streamlining Removal Procedures Consistent with Merit System Principles" according to The White House (2018). The purpose of the order is to hold the federal employees accountable in their conducts. There set standards that are to be met by state employees. The order seeks to address the dropping moral levels among state workers by ensuring the non-performing individuals are shifted or even eradicated.
In the previous years, there have been no measures put in place to check for the accountability of state workers. At the same time, the order seeks to streamline the removal of non-performing individuals to minimize issues of bias. Although a lot of issues are addressed in the order, they all narrow down to the accountability of the federal workers. Only individuals who have not lived in America will argue against the executive order. One of the most coveted slogans used by president trump was to "make America great." If things go as they are currently, there is no doubt America will be great again. A lot of rot has characterized the American Workforce, and there is the need to clean it up, (Rung, 2002). The best way to do it is by coming up with some reasonable policies like the way the president has done. Countering the menace without reasonable policies will be hard. In as much there are critics of the order, the positive side of it overpowers it.
Conclusion
The implementation of the policies is the current problem that has to be tackled. Regardless of the policies being in place, the president did not specify specific measures that will ensure the order comes to pass. Currently, the policies are just put on paper. There is a need to put more effort to improve American productivity as well as the economy. Executive orders are extremely different from laws. In normal circumstances, laws tend to be taken more seriously than executive orders. However, it is upon the public to realize that executive orders have to be adhered to the letter without having to use force. After all, the office of the president uses the powers provided for in the constitution. On this note, there is the urgent need for a clean up to be carried out in the management and working of federal and state laborers.
