Organizational Foundations
My organizational is the Memorial Hermann Hospital which is a not-for-profit health center that is owned by the community. The facility operates in line with its set vision, mission, and values that guide the health practitioners towards promoting ethics in their work. In their operation, they demonstrate the uniqueness of an organization The organization's mission statement asserts that "Memorial Hermann is a not-for-profit, community-owned, health care system with spiritual values, dedicated to providing high-quality health services in order to improve the health of people in Southeast Texas" ("About Memorial Hermann", n.d.). It acts as a guideline to all stakeholders to ensure they act accordingly and do not deviate from the core functions of the institution. Its vision depicts that "Memorial Hermann will be the pre-eminent health system in the United States by advancing the health of those we serve through trusted partnerships with physicians, employees and others to deliver the best possible health solutions while relentlessly pursuing quality and value ("About Memorial Hermann", n.d.). The hospital upholds religious virtue of commitment to community members, dedication to giving quality care, and stewardship. The mission, vision, and values are essential in ensuring all patients receive quality services from the health center (Marquis & Huston, 2017).
Culture and Climate
Climate and culture are two aspects that define the operation of an organization. Undoubtedly, the atmosphere is characterized by the environmental conditions that stimulate the working of people. On the other hand, culture refers to customs, beliefs, and values that guide people towards the course of action (Eklof, Torner, & Pousette, 2014). The Memorial Hermann Hospital culture is to attend to the members of the community irrespective of ethnicity and gender. It aims at ensuring that the residents in that region receive quality care as it stipulated from the mission, vision, and the values. The climate approach suggests that the hospital has to undertake all its roles and perform them effectively without thinking of the external factors (Joseph, 2015).
The Essence of Mission, Vision, Culture, and Climate in a Health Facility
Mission, vision, culture, and climate are instrumental in the life of a nurse. It is essential to examine them to ensure that one does not deviate from what is expected from a nurse. In addition, operating by the values, mission, and vision makes me feel attached to the organization. As a nurse, this makes all the activities run effectively as each physician performs to uphold the values set forth.
