Telecom Egypt for a long time dominated the telecommunications market and consequently was considered a monopoly. Egyptians have over the years shown continued interest in their mobile devices, and thus even the poorest demographics tend to borrow money to purchase the most affordable handsets. As of now, the market is extremely competitive to a point where the mobile operators offer quite aggressive promotions during the month of Ramadan to boost their usage and subscriptions (Paul and Max, 2011).
Having obtained a license for the mobile operator, the acting manager Nawawy pointed out that their main target is the wealth of the Egyptian people; whereby the Egyptian people own approximately 80% of the company shares while 20% is owned by foreign shareholders. Thus the Egyptian market demography can be categorized into the following; a third of the customers are below 15 years, the second third lies between 15-25 years while the rest are above 25 years.
