Digital marketing entails the promotion of the goods and services that a business offers through the utilization of one or more forms of electronic media (Jarvinen 2016). Firms consider factors such as the habits of the customers they are targeting, the availability of funds, and the number of customers they intend to reach before selecting the type of electronic media they would use. Some of the common electronic media avenues used by most businesses are such as; the internet, fax, telephone, television and radio.
The evolutions in technology caused by the various inventions and innovation made over time have significantly impacted the various changes in digital marketing. These changes in technology have led to the improvement of digital marketing practices. However, the changes have caused organizations to transform their digital marketing strategies to adopt the changes regularly. Some of the possible future changes that may be experienced are such as; first, the increase in the cost of digital marketing. The cost of advertising through digital marketing avenues such as the social media platforms, for example, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram would increase. The increase in their cost would be caused by the increase in the number of business utilizing such platforms to advertise.
Second, the increase in mobile devices advertising. The increase in the number of people currently using smartphones, credited by the reduction in the price of the devices would force digital marketers to introduce various ways of directly reaching the users of these devices (Bosomworth 2015). The marketers may design smartphone advertising applications that would be used by different organizations to reach their potential customers. Third, the increase in creating customized Websites for specific customers. Customization has increasingly been used in advertising presently. The customization of websites will enable businesses to tailor their services to specific users. This will allow firms to understand their customers better and thus they would know how to sell their offers to their different customers. Companies may know how to create customized websites for their customers through monitoring the actions of their customers, for example, the websites they frequently visit and what they like researching on. Websites such as Google and YouTube are currently personalized to meet its user's preference.
Fourth, increase in digital marketing while focusing on location. Organizations are currently focusing on adverting through the use of locations. Most of the applications downloaded request its users to input their locational details. According to Ryan (2016), the information is used to relay promotional information on the various businesses that are located within their location. Fifth, the increase in video marketing. Most of the online digital marketing platform would use videos to relay business promotional information to potential clients (Ryan 2016). Marketers would invest their time and resources in creating short, interactive, and creative videos that would entertain their viewers while they inform them more about the goods and services offered by the businesses they are promoting.
In conclusion, the embracing of digital marketing has significantly benefited most of the companies around the world. It has enabled organizations to effectively communicate to the many potential customers of the goods and services they offer. However, firms that have been able to be the market leaders in their respective industries are the ones that have been able to predict the transformational pattern in digital marketing effectively. Such firms have been the most successful since the have managed to have a marketing edge over their competitors.
