The funding of rehabilitation programs for offenders is essential since it reduces recidivism. Various departments of rehabilitation offer inmates with various rehabilitation programs when they are still in prison which include the plans of substance disorder treatment and also education to the prisoners ( Lipsey,1998). This program helps in reduction of the number of prisoners who when released reoffend again.

The rehabilitation programs offered to offenders while in prison before they are released when properly funded enable this centers to provide quality services to the offenders who in turn when released their likelihood of leading a productive and crime-free life is very high since this center addresses the underlying factor that results to criminal acts. When these programs are given adequate financial support for the employment of qualified human resources to facilitate activities in the rehabilitation center will lead to a reduction in the number of offenders in society.

With knowledge acquired from the rehabilitation center, the offenders can apply the knowledge and create employment which will make their minds be engaged, keeping them busy and creating a source of income for them thus reducing the level of crime rate in the society. These rehabilitation programs in the United States of America are usually given to prisoners who are incarcerated in state prison or country jail.

When these rehabilitation programs are appropriately funded through the provision of required resources such as human resources, reading materials, and playing kits will reduce crime rate and also lead to direct and indirect financial benefits to the state. Immediate fiscal benefits entail a reduction in incarceration cost since with the data gathered from this program the offenders will not return to the prisons after their release (Archer, & Williams, 2005). Indirect benefits could be that of reduction in the cost of assistance from the public since some offenders may be equipped with job training that will result to employment, thereby reducing the level of the aid from the audience.

Funding of the rehabilitation programs for offenders is essential since when adequate and efficient resources are provided to this centers the quality of knowledge will be high thus reducing the burden of managing the prisoner population for the state, improving their wellbeing and improvement in their attainment in education ( Oser, Knudsen, Staton-Tindall, & Leukefeld, 2009). Few inmates when released from prisons need to be housed in areas that have high security thus rehabilitation centers that are well funded will educate the prisoners on importance of keeping the laws of the country thus minimizing the need and costs to ad security in these areas.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the funding of rehabilitative programs for offenders is essential. Firstly, it reduces recidivism; secondly, it, directly and indirectly, benefits the state economically. Also, reduce the level of public assistance needed to create employment for the offenders. Lastly, reduce the cost of improving the standard of security in areas that the offenders go to stay when they are released.
