Introduction
I used to wonder why the number of uninsured people kept on increasing. I could not fathom why people cared less about their wellbeing to the extent of not paying for medical insurance. However, I have come to learn that organizations such as small businesses find it hard to pay for their employees' health benefits. On the other hand, the employers who provide these type of benefits are currently cutting them which is forcing employees to pay them using their salary. Even though being uninsured can cause huge problems during health problems, costs remain the problem. As a result of the research, I now understand why people do not go for health insurance.
I understand that medical technology only has valued benefits if medicinal profits surpass the charges. The high-tech revolution accounts for the bulk of health care charge upsurges over the period. The unique benefits can only be determined if the prices are lower. On the other hand, medical technology is referred to as inefficient when the charges rise higher than the received benefits. Throughout my research, I compared the profits with the cost, and I realized that although there is an improvement in health, health expenditure has increased as well. This means that the technology in the healthcare sector has more disadvantages as compared to benefits.
Although I learned many negative things about medical technology, I found out positive things about it which changed my understanding too. I learned how technology is improving the quality of life by integrating innovations into treatment and medicine. In our healthcare facilities, there is modern equipment which allows patients to spend less time treating a disease. The addition of medical equipment technology has developed robotic surgeries. Nowadays there are no long queues for patient waiting for a doctor to perform surgeries. Some of the operations are performed by robots in the absence of physicians. Moreover, the current technology ensures the patient is left with less scarring which takes less time to recover. I used to wonder why physicians and scientists regularly conduct research. But, I have come to learn research is a significant aspect for this field. Most of the diseases are evolving, and the environment changes are also developing new disease-causing viruses. Hence, physicians and medical scientists must continuously research new procedures that can diagnose and treat diseases. Additionally, they require to perform research and develop new medicines for the same. Scientists use technology research to study conditions on a cellular level and produce antibodies against them. I learned that the vaccines save approximately three million people annually and prevent millions of the rest from being affected by the lethal diseases and viruses.
The research approach which I used provided complementary insights. I learned about adverse and efficacy effects of medical interventions which made me understand why researchers first conduct the study using animal models. Most of the therapeutic interventions used are aimed at preventing diseases. However, not all are effective at a population level. Some of the strategies seem promising at the beginning, but the results say otherwise. Thus, the researcher uses animals' models to address the study's questions. Animals used have a striking resemblance to people; hence they are suitable for the study. Animals such as rats work like human bodies which are used to predict the likelihood of response in human beings and I found it to be ideal.
Conclusion
In conclusion, universities introduced research as a way of informing action, proving a model and contributing to developing knowledge in the study. Like every other student, conducting research and writing have impacted my understanding regarding medical technology advancements impacting medical treatment. The research helped me learn to inquire about things before rejecting or accepting an idea. I used to think that medical technology advancement offers affordable treatment, but, I was proved wrong. Also, I used to wonder why physicians and scientists regularly conduct research yet it is tiresome. But, I have learned the importance of continuous research in the healthcare sector. Moreover, since there are no restrictions when it comes to research, I have learned countless things which have impacted my understanding regarding daily life.
