Introduction
Test interpretation is a vital tool for psychologists in any particular field globally. Recommendation as well can assist in the determination of suitable approach and criteria to adopt in pursuit of achieving goals as well as objectives. The interpretation of test results and recommendations can be applied in various contexts. The interpretation of test results is made chronologically based on the validity and reliability of the test results. Validity translates to the degree to which the theory, as well as evidence, backs interpretation of tests scores for the projected use of tests. Reliability in the interpretation of tests refers to the extent to which the test scores are consistent and stable.
Case #1: Industrial Setting
In an industrial environment, a psychologist keenly accesses the candidate yearning for a job in the relevant company so that it can sail the company in achieving the set targets and objectives. Any minor mistakes can put the company at a verge of losses if caution is not correctly taken. It is essential for a new candidate applying for any job in any given setting especially a technological company like for the case of Telecon phone company to exhibit the following qualities:
- Communication skills
- Technical competency
- Flexibility and persistence
- The ability to work in harmony with co-workers
- The capability of solving problems
Jada Andrews as an applicant of a job as a salesperson in a company specializing in the manufacture of low-cost cell phones is equipped with some of the qualities relevant to the company. Some of the qualities highlighted by the Myers-Briggs group are perceived as ESFJ whereby she is known to be an extroversive lady, can sense, the ability to judge as well as the ability to feel. The phone manufacturing company has some basic requirements for a suitable person to hire which includes the ability to communicate to the customer in explanation of features and plans of the phone, face to face contact with the customer and vivid description to the customer on the cost of the relevant product. Jada Andrews qualifies to secure a position in the Metro consumer telephone company since she exhibits all the qualities that correspond with the company's requirements. ( Dasgupta et al.2013)
Jada can be able to communicate freely and more vividly to the customers based on the type of phone the customer is in need of, and she can describe all the relevant information systematically and comprehensively. It is also more apparent from the results from Myers-Briggs group she can judge translating that she is a problem-solving lady. She can take the challenges and any prospect stumbling blocks in a minimal direction. She can weigh on the possible criteria to follow and suggests the reasonable and effective method to apply for the better performance as well as the realization of the company's profit. Jada is more so an extroversive person whereby she can relate well with the customers. Not only can she feel to be with the customers but also the co-workers under the same department. The extroversive aspect can result in the cooperation among the workers and the company at large. It proportionally relates to the profitability level of the company.
Furthermore, her age makes her flexible as well. She can be able to react quickly to the changing conditions in the market at all times when on the sales panel. She can change the gears and adapt as per the company's requirement. She can also sense the variation in market conditions hence helps the phone manufacturing company in forecasting thus the company can regulate its manufacturing of gadgets. It curtails the manufacture of excess phones in comparison with the demand in the market. The company can therefore only produce the intended quantity of phones and accessories to satisfy the consumers. Jada can as well feel, she treats customers well by listens to them keenly while they are making inquiries with her face to face. It then draws the attention of the customers hence in future they would wish to be back and get served by the same client. The profitability level of the company then sporadically escalates as a result of customer satisfaction since the purchase of the product becomes habitual. (Lilienfeld, 2014)
Nonetheless, she is educated holding certification of a diploma. Jada, therefore, is competent in working in the industrial phone manufacturing field. Based on the requirements of the company Jada Andrews should deliberately be offered a vacancy in the position as a salesperson in Metro consumer Telecon Company.
Case #2: Educational Setting
In an educational context, several aspects on the student's life have to be considered for a successful interpretation of test results. A psychologist must get close to the candidate to be assessed. Sometimes, informal language can be applied in some cases so that the actual information can be drawn and conclusions made thoroughly. For an individual to venture into any specialty in the medical field, he/she has to exhibit several essential qualities. A medical field is a critical field where it is concerned with the life of a human being, and care is a, therefore, a norm. A vast range of elements must be cautiously analyzed on a candidate who would like to join the surgical field. The following are the requirements for a medical practitioner in the execution of day to day activities in the profession.
- The knowledge
- Discipline
- Strong credentials
- Patient
- Sincere and empathetic
- Strong communication skills
- Easy to access
- Respectful to the schedule
- Thorough
In the educational setting, good results go hand in hand with other aspects such as discipline, respect to both parents as well as teachers, capacity to be sincere, the ability to communicate well in verification and answering of questions and the general knowledge. A student with good results is also known to have thoroughly revisited and mastered all the content in the syllabus. It is therefore clear that Amrita Bahtt is known to be a hardworking student since her results are satisfactory. She is a disciplined lady who does everything aggressively to ensure the outcomes are satisfactory not only to her but also to teachers and parents as well. A 4th-grade category is clear evidence of all she invested in her studies. It can be denoted that Amrita respected and adhered to her schedule while studying. Time wastage was an element of exclusion in her daily endeavors as well as the academic life. Respect is a critical virtue that powers a student to a higher capacity in education. Respect in the education context should not only be practiced to teachers but also majorly an individual student herself. (Oermann et al.2014)
Amrita from her academic excellence, it can be denoted that she was a student having patience. She actively puts extra efforts and unremittingly in her education as he waits for the outcomes even though there might be some challenges which may have distracted her. The same trait is correspondingly translated to the medical field implicating that specialists have to major themselves in caregiving services and needs according to the patients. A 4th-grade result has a combination of other disciplines summed together. It is therefore vivid that Amrita has strong communication skills that enable her to venture later into the medical field courtesy of surgery. She will be able to listen keenly to the patient and at the same time provide information that can be easily understood. Amrita's result deliberately validates her need to join the medical profession. Amrita's dreams in joining the surgical panel are valid since she exhibits all it takes for her to be a surgeon like her father. The need for the parents for her to be placed in new accelerated math track is therefore valid.
Case #3: Clinical Setting
The clinical setting is encompassed by a dozen of department functioning independently in serving the patients welfare. Professional counseling usually takes place either in a public or private agency. It has integrated programs relevant to meet the needs of clients. Furthermore, it has adequate resources required for tackling and solving any prospect issue. In a clinical arena, counseling is done on marriage and general life matters. For any marriage to succeed, every partner should exhibit the following traits:
- Faithfulness
- Trust
- Straightforwardness
- Respect
- Ability to communicate ethically
- Problem-solving capacity
- Understandability
William Steiger aged 32 being counseled has a strong educational foundation whereby he holds certification in MBA marketing degree. He has studied for 18 years and was working as a mid-level executive in a major firm for 8 years. An eight-year-old- experience as one of the executives is enough to have shaped his character to be an upright person in life. From the test results, he is known to be engaged in a series of disagreements for nearly all his employment period. William would have adopted a better approach to managing any possible conflicts within the company. Some of the conflict management strategies include accommodation, collaboration, avoiding, compromising and competing. In line with the accommodation strategy, William could instead have allowed the opposing executives do as per their wish. William would have adopted a collaborative policy by integrating the ideas with his fellow executives thus would have mitigated any occurrence of conflicts within the company. Collaboration is a peace-oriented strategy that suits the parties involved. The compromising approach requires the two conflicting parties to raise the elements of the conflict then it is discussed upon, and a better solution is agreed upon. Competition is a fair game where one party emerges the winner while the other antagonizing party loses. It would work well since they were conflicting with a small number of executives. His contract was terminated after the conflict with the vice president of the company. William cannot discuss and suggests a solution to be used when the issue on specific issues that arises. While solving a trending problem in a company, chronological order is followed in order to attain the final goal. A problem is first defined embodying all that needs to be achieved. Analysis of the problem is the next step whereby the current situation is considered in comparison to what needs to be addressed and involved in making a decision. Possible solutions are then generated in several numbers of ways to assist in the provision of an answer is highlighted. The other critical step is the analysis of solutions; various factors are investigated about each potential solution. The best solution is then selected systematically and disregarding different types of solutions. Planning is the final step whereby an appropriate plan is decided tailored for the next course of actions. For instance, planning is future-oriented activity. (Voss et al.2013)
William, therefore, should have discussed with the fellow executives on what should be instigated thus creating room for negotiations which finally mitigate misunderstandings as well as conflicts. He is also known to be involved in extramarital practices with a wife belonging to her close friend. It is clear that William is lacking the capacity of faithfulness to her wife. The primary issue her wife left him was the extramarital acts he was engaging in. He is therefore not a person to be trusted in the work as well as the marriage context. From her ill-odd acts, he is seemingly known to be disrespecting her partner who eventually threatens to divorce him. The counseling administered to him may not benefit him due to the condition he is subjected to. Furthermore, he does not understand the noble way to behave in marriage as well as treating the family members. Her historical background in work does not make him s...
