Introduction
The results of the personality test I took revealed that I have CONSUL PERSONALITY (ESFJ, -A/T). This personality implies that I am healthy and independent. My strengths as shown by personality test results include being able to motivate, support, inspire, encourage and strengthen myself and others. I am outgoing, friendly, and talkative.
A person with CONSUL PERSONALITY type as stated by Scripter (2017) is usually accessible in society and takes over leadership positions or sporting activities. The personality test result accurately describes my traits. I set the tone, especially during a performance. Besides, I am always in the front line in almost all activities. This suggests that I am predetermined to be a leader. As described in the questionnaire, I enjoy leading teams or groups toward success. The inquiry also states that a person with Consul Personality type enjoy supporting friends and relatives and organizing social gatherings and striving to ensure that everyone is happy (BSM Consulting, Inc., 2015). I agree with this description because I often get a sense of completeness when everybody is happy.
The personality test reveals that persons with consul personality type are social and like inquiring about the whereabouts of friends and family (Harell, 2018). This accurately describes my trait as I do care for friends and family members. However, I disagree with the statement that individuals with consul personality type have little interest in scientific theories or politics and such persons are only concerned with fashion, their appearance, and social status. I enjoy engaging in practical activities. I also agree with the results of the assessment that Consuls respect the wisdom of leadership. I usually take my responsibility seriously and do the right things every day. I also base my moral compass on established laws and traditions, uphold authority and rules. The assessment results revealed that Consul Personalities often respect hierarchy and strive to gain the power to keep things stable, clear, and organized (Scripter, 2017). Principally, this statement accurately describes my trait as I usually stabilize situations to ensure that there is harmony. Further, I hate conflict, and I believe that I can be solved more amicably. Consuls spend more energy establishing social order and prefer plans and organized events. I partially agree with this statement because consul personalities not only enjoy spontaneity but can get hurt when their ideas are rejected or when people are not interested in them.
From the assessment result, I should be aware of numerous strengths including strong practical skills, a strong sense of duty, very loyal, good at connecting with others, as well as, sensitive and warm. Usually, consuls are perfect managers of daily activities and enjoy caring for those close to them (Bass, & Bass, 2009). Further, they are responsible and try to fulfill their obligations. As a result, they value stability and security. More importantly, Consul Personalities seek harmony, genuinely care about the feelings of others, and have a strong need to interact and make networks with others (Hersey, Blanchard, & Johnson, 2007). Despite these strengths, Consul Personality has numerous weaknesses such as inflexibility, reluctant to improve or innovate, vulnerability to criticism, as well as, too selfish. Principally, Consul put much importance on what is socially acceptable and hardly accept anything unconventional or illegal (Pierro, Raven, Amato, & Belanger, 2013). Further, they fear trying out new techniques or approaches as they believe they will be criticized.
Conclusion
In conclusion, taking the assessment test has enabled me to examine my personality preferences and understand my leadership style. My overall leadership style is one of practical leading along with practical sense and social vigor. Further, I am well organized and strictly follows the leadership hierarchy. More importantly, I organize the environment and people by ensuring that there is harmony. As a student, understanding my leadership and personality type will help me in my present and future career. With the described strengths and weaknesses, I feel that I will work on my weakness and boost my strengths to achieve my career objective.
