Dear Sir or Madam,
With this letter, I would like to express my interest in enrolling for an accounting and finance course in your highly-esteemed university.
I can attribute my motivation to pursue this course to my strong personality traits. First, I have strong internal drive, resilience, and determination. I always ensure that I achieve my worthwhile goals, no matter the obstacles and challenges that stand on my path. I am also meticulous in my work as depicted by my excellent organization skills and great attention to detail. I strive for perfection at all times. Additionally, I am self-efficacious and possess a strong belief in my capability to accomplish a given task. Moreover, I am honest and responsible for all my actions and do not blames others for my mistakes. Lastly, I am objective and independent in all my all that I do. Because of this, I always avoid activities within which the possibilities for conflicts of interest may arise.
I am currently working as a senior accountant-tax consultant where I am tasked with bookkeeping, maintaining daily transactions with suppliers and banks, auditing, and monitoring the daily turnover. These roles have greatly enhanced my knowledge of accounting and finance. For instance, through bookkeeping, I have been able to acquire excellent data entry skills, gain a better understanding of accounting language, maintain records of transactions through proper filing, keep the general ledger balanced and up-to-date through the transfer of subsidiary account summaries, and prepare trial balances.
I particularly attribute my bookkeeping skills to my avid interest in reading accounting books. One of the books which have been of immense help in enhancing these skills is Accounting for Dummies.' This book was an eye-opener as it enabled me to understand the basics of accounting, such as how to balance the books of accounts. It also allowed me to understand the bookkeeping cycle. Specifically, I got to know that the cycle begins with daily business transactions, which are then recorded into the journal. This is followed by posting of journal entries to a ledger, from where a trial balance is conducted. I was also able to learn how trial balances are used to formulate the income statement and the balance sheet. Additionally, through the daily recording of business transactions, I have learned to properly organize records, a critical skill in my future career. Moreover, auditing enhanced my interest in finance, improved my problem-solving skills as well as my IT skills. I believe that these skills will help me to get the most of the program. The acquisition of these basic accounting skills has inspired and catapulted my interest in accounting and finance.
I believe I am the best candidate for accounting and finance program because of my extensive experience accountant-tax consultancy and my strong personality traits. Additionally, I have a strong passion for Mathematics and have always wanted to pursue a career related to it. This program will be of great benefit to my future career as it will make me more competitive in the job market. Additionally, a degree in accounting and finance qualifications will be essential in climbing up the career ladder of accounting firms.
I would very much welcome an opportunity to further explain how my experience and skills will enable me to accomplish my academic goals. I am confident that I will be a great asset to the accounting and finance program of the University. Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to your positive response.
Yours sincerely,
