Introduction

Transcendentalism is defined as the forms of truth concerning transcendent which exist beyond the experience and wisdom. These rebels against such as Chris McCandless who get to embrace the transcendentalism essence by trying to find out higher truths with himself by relating to nature. Based on the book Into the Wild, Chris attained his first step to live a life of intellectual by trying to forge the new life and abandoned his past life and also the identity. Chris also changed his name to control his destiny, and this appears as one of the processes he uses in making himself become a transcendentalist. My opinion about Chris McCandless and Transcendentalism is negative since throughout the passage Into The wild has a lot of evidence that supports the negatives based on McCandless and transcendentalism.

In the passage of Into The Wild, Chris is displayed as a wacko reckless idiot who is courageous and at the same time heroic. My opinion to Chris is negative since why does he act as being bold and still leaves for wilderness, knowing very well that the outcome conditions are fatal. I have a broad range of opinions concerning Chris where I have referred to him as just a young man who has incredibly been dim-witted. My first opinion on Chris negativity is that he appeared brainless, extremely foolish and idiotic, for instance, where he burns out all his money. Chris also saw flash floods as one of the most significant opportunities for shedding the unnecessary baggage that he had. "He saw the flash flood as an opportunity to shed unnecessary baggage." This is therefore viewed as the transcendentalist belief where people are made to detach from society. Burning money appears to be a very foolish act where Chris refers to as a symbolic meaning which prevents him from acquiring any luxury since he feels that he does not need it to be happy. Chris has a belief that life is usually sweetest just near the bone, and this makes him drop everything to fulfill all this. Another negative opinion is that Chris distances him from all his friends, society and family who love him very much and to make matters worse he leaves his family without telling them where he has tended to "I'm going to divorce them as my parents once and for all and never speak to either of those idiots again as long as I live, I'll be through with them once and for all, forever." (Krakauer, 2018,p. 64)

Transcendentalism consists of several negatives, even though it is exciting. It mainly involves the focus whereby an individual lives by their, and in most cases, they take extreme measures in following it. This means that one does everything to live desirably, and this is known to have some cost, which involves hurting oneself and other people. "So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind. But in reality, nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit of a man than a secure future...."(Krakauer, 2008, p. 58). Chris demonstrates transcendentalism by going into the wild unprepared and does not let his family know what is happening. Due to this, Chris get to isolate him from others, and this leads him to live in threatening situations. Transcendentalism ultimately leads someone to demise and leaving the people around hurt, just like the Chris situation.

Conclusion

Chris McCandless is displayed as a wacko who puts blocks to any relationship that he initially had. Therefore this is typical transcendentalist beliefs since the people relationships are taken as a distraction, making people detach from goals of life.
