Introduction
Conflicting loyalties is one of the significant uphill challenges that any start-up entrepreneur experiences. An entrepreneur is an individual who comes up with a business idea and implements it. There are numerous examples of individuals who have had startups and experienced the challenge that it brings with it. Examples of famous entrepreneurs include Steve Jobs of Apple, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook. For this write-up, the experience of Robin Chase needs to be appreciated and demonstrated. Robin Chase months into the start of her new project experienced the challenge of conflicting loyalties (Eng, 2016)
She saw that the revenue generated in that month was less than half the estimates that she had projected for a startup. The low income experienced meant that she would take a longer duration to break even and be able to maintain the business. This challenge implied that she had a solution that would enable her to be able to break even. One of the answers she had was to increase charges levied to members. This situation exposed the challenge that she would have in dealing with the product promise she had already made with the members whom she had convinced to pay the amount for the product. She would be forced to take drastic measures if she wanted to save her firm
In the same vein, she had loyalty to her firm, which she had cultivated a lot of time into and wanted it to succeed. She has the daunting job of balancing between the survival of her firm and not breaking the promise she had made to her members. Such scenarios of conflicting loyalties have not been well enumerated, especially by established entrepreneurs who share their journey with the rest of the crew.
A leader is an individual who can be able to mobilize resources and achieve a particular task. A leader has to undergo an assessment to establish the quality of leadership of the individual. The evaluation entails setting the strength and the weakness of the individual through analysis. One of the significant parameters used includes the ability of the individual to influence and who the individual can control. A leader should be able to change people under his leadership and to establish a significant leadership pattern.
Another significant aspect that one evaluates is the ability of the individual to communicate effectively. A good leader can have useful, accurate, and open communication with his members to be able to achieve effective leadership. A leader who demonstrates active communication skills and transparency can improve the morale of the members and actively motivate them. Moreover, a leader is gauged based on enhancing the overall performance of the individuals who are under their leadership (Morison, 2018).
It is also essential to consider the attitude of the leader when evaluating their strengths and weaknesses as it will be able to inform you about the nature of the leadership actively. Positivity is one of the significant advantages that a leader might have as this enables the individual to be able to pass this attitude to the rest of the individuals. Positivity is a useful trait as it improves the outcome of the members and the general performance. These attributes and several others are important to evaluate an individual's leadership. These traits will prove very important to safeguard the company's relationship with its members. Effective communication will adequately explain the problem at hand and allow the members to understand the situation.The significant challenges that are faced include the risk of the members pulling out of the company, which in turn would pose more challenges. The mass pullout would be occasioned by the proposed increased fees levied.
Another significant challenge would be that the company stands a risk of drowning in losses due to the reduced revenues. It is also important to acknowledge that another big problem is being able to listen to various ideas proposed by different individuals on the issue and coming up with a reasonable conclusion that will please both parties. One of the tradeoff strategies that the leader might employ is having a balance by not raising the charges too much but also increasing the advantages that the members will get from their remittances. They can also use strategies to be able to increase their profits by reducing the expenditure to achieve the desired number.
An example of an ethical system that would be of use in such a setup would include moral relativism which would consist of that there is no ideal code of standard. It implies that there would be an opportunity for everyone to put their options available and lay it across to every individual. Then a consensus would be reached where the individuals deliberate and arrive on an agreement on the matter at hand. Utilitarianism would be an alternative ethical system where one arrives at the best solution based on the consequence that the events reach. The system would give an excellent explanation to the answer achieved as it is the best and would make most people happy (Louis & Long, 2000).
Conclusion
An analysis on the impact on the organization, the workers, the leadership and the customers revealed that the organization would see a steady rise in its profits which would imply that there would be a positive trend on the financial curve. The move would also reduce the burden on the entrepreneur concerning the challenge of maintaining the startup. However, there might be a negative impact on the organization if there are not able to have a focused marketing strategy to enable the stakeholders to appreciate the necessity of the moves made. The organization is the umbrella body that benefits the workers, the leadership, and even the customer. It would necessitate the coordination of all the involved stakeholders.
The workers would have an adverse impact as they are directly involved in the day to day running of the organization. Their wages come from the organization and depend on the functionality of the organs. If the organization is not able to meet its target expectation, this will result in a lack of jobs for the workers. The move would also adversely impact the leadership as it would be their leadership traits that would be on the line. The implication of this is that the individuals will experience the daunting task of explaining an event that arises. Finally, it would impact the customer due to them being the direct users of the product. They will directly suffer if the prices are raised (Shilam & Gregas, 2018).
