It also elaborates on the knowledge of the various skills required to achieve the objective of bringing up these children in an upright manner. Further, it talks about parenting education that elaborates on multiple styles of parenting those favor children morally. The inclusion of assertive parent is also a crucial area discussed; it ensures assertive communication and appreciation of parents' efforts in their upbringing.
Summary Statement
The paper discusses the challenges of parenting in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) families, practical findings from existing scholarly literature and education of better parenting in such families. Possible scenarios to identify challenges that same-sex parents face, whether they explored requisite skills on how to bring up children in such unions and recommendations are areas of focus. Therefore, five scholarly literature forms the basis of the practical course work of this summarized research paper.
Limitations to Study
This summarized research paper limits its findings, arguments, and recommendations on education for parents in LGBT families, perceived as crucial in the efforts to help these parents responsible and productive. Therefore, it draws its relevance from findings done by scholars who worked on various stages in gay relationships in the last ten years. The outcomes range from the formation of such links, which turns to marriage, and structure of families, intentions of having children, adoption process to the future of these children.
Research Methodology
No practical research work done, but based on research already done; we compare notes of those research findings to form the basis of this research paper. The first bit of this paper seeks to understand the nature of same-sex relationships form a cohabiting partnership to the test whether relationship quality advocates cohesion and the moderate role of such relationships (Eeden-Moorfield et al., 2012). Furthermore, it is essential to understand the formation of these families. Therefore, the study conducted to investigate family and desired to parent children through surrogacy (Petersen, 2018) becomes a source about other research findings in the development of the comparative conclusions and recommendations.
Alexander Costa and Bidell Marcus' study are the intentions, desire, and experience of same-sex, bisexual and transgender parenting (Costa & Bidell, 2017), forms point of reference in the adoption of favorable parenting styles. Procedures of child adoption and acquisition in these families relate to what happens after they find the urge to have children, the systems and ethical issues involved discussed in the findings. Further, the involvement of religion support for adoption in gay families is also part of these findings (Whitehead & Perry, 2016). Lastly, Gates (2015) focuses on what the future holds for children such families. A reflection on challenges, education on better parenting practices, stigma awareness, and involvement of religion wraps up the discussion on findings of these scholars in their research work.
Literature Review
Regarding the future of children brought up in the gay family culture and environment, this paper focuses on the education of parenting practices to help these families fight challenges that may be involved. These children are adoptive, therefore, in the ordinary life situation they expect to have normal females as people, they call "mother" and males "father" but is not the case to children in these families. Research involves the formation of these families, the social effects of this kind of lifestyle. The emphasis is put on what has been happening its effects on the children when growing and to their future, what needs to be done differently mitigate the challenges surrounding such families.
It is only at gay stepfamilies of relationship that gay families have a high level of relationship qualities. Therefore, it shows that cohesion in gay families stated by the type of relationship and marriage involved (Eeden-Moorefield et al., 2012). However, one crucial factor that is unique with gay families is the degree to which people know their sexual preferences. Research shows that this influences their relationship outcomes. The unstable condition of these relationships that makes them not cohesive certainly makes them not suitable to bring up children uprightly. Rise of family squabbles, use of stigmatizing language makes children build weak life foundation at an early age, stigmatization and psychological negligence and lack of exposure.
People in same-sex marriages also show intentions to have children even though, they are not in a position give birth to their children, this leads to finding alternatives. Scholars researched to find out which category shows the intention, experience, and desire to have children and their preferences (Costa & Bidell, 2017). It is realized that young age involvements in same-sex practices, low religion influence showed a huge intention in parenting. For more confirmation on this, variance study further showed that young people significantly intended to parent. The intentions and desires may have looked okay, but the question is at that tender age are they qualified to bring up adoptive children uprightly? This article now expounds on the relevance of parental couching to enable these young unique couples to deal with drawbacks like a stigma to bring up adoptive children morally upright.
The adoption or child acquisition process is another stage of gay families' lives that have solid issues for deliberation, the involvement of religion in the adoption process. A study examines the impact of religion on people's attitudes towards adoption by homosexual couples. Findings in the study show that religious factors are among the strongest opposers of gay sex adoption but religious tradition has no effect on such adoption. The study further suggests that religious affiliation has less effect in predicting gay adoption attitude than religious practices and faith. In reflection on the question of, what is the future of the adopted child? The church and religion only addresses a section of thoughts and leave another section. The point of whether gay is morally right to religious people should have been addressed by the teachings of faith but this is left hanging. Could this affect children who the society is struggling to ensure morally upright upbringing towards? Should adoptive parents hide the fact that they are same-sex couples to give an enabling environment for the morally proper growth of these babies? Are Lesbianism, gays, Bisexuality and transgender practices right or wrong?
The last born of contention that is also discussed by scholars who were concerned by the future of these adoptive children is addressed in this paper. Children raised by same-sex parents have averagely experienced family instabilities because they are adoptive children (Gates, 2015). In the recent past, this has been accompanied by the stigma that ends up affecting the children in many adverse ways including psychological trauma and urges to commit suicide. Despite pulled up support for homosexual parenting, fewer same-sex couples raise children today than in the millennial years. This is because of the reduced stigma that makes more LGBT couples come to the limelight to report their sexual preferences. Further, some couples adopt children or use reproduction technologies like surrogacy to have children and parent them. Gates findings still do not assure curious users of his findings on what happens to the future of these children who are brought up by gay parents. Are these parents educated well enough to deal with the challenges their children go through when they realize they belong to same-sex parents? This review looks into the scholarly work of different researchers and tries to use them to find a gap that will be addressed with the education aspect of this article. Education on the right choice of adoption and proper ways to bring up these children morally upright is important because same-sex marriage will always be part of human life.
The Adoption
From the research findings, it is true to argue that adoption and upbringing of kids in same-sex families have not been done not by the guidelines of professionalism it deserves to make it a success. Most parents who take part in this are just doing it as a call dictated by nature after marriage. They are ignorant of the consequences of bringing up kids in such an environment to themselves and to the children they have adopted. There are serious negative effects of bringing up children in such an environment that need the expertise to be able to deal with, for instance, children from these families are bound to discrimination by their counterparts from different-sex families. They are also exposed to suffer serious stigmatization effects, trauma, and depression if not well taken care of. For this reason, same-sex parents who have decided to be part of this initiative should undergo rigorous social and psychological training and education on how to deal with circumstances.
The negative psychological effect is not just an issue that affects the children in question but also their parents, no parent is happy when they see their children stressed and traumatized. This effect will pass to parents and the stigma will destroy the entire family, and now that same-sex relationships are part of lives today, education on how to live a happy family life is necessary. Education serves a vital role especially in the efforts to help parents act a more caring and effective way towards the caring and upbringing of their adoptive children. Therefore the process of parent education for same-sex families is very important to learners of this course, it equips them with the requisite professional skills in advocating for same-sex parents' education. The main importance of this course process is to equip ambassadors of the fight against stigma, stress depression, and early loss of lives casualties.
LGBT is natural, sexual preferences are life traits that will never end and that is why there are legislations that give people involved the right to equal societal treatment, but it comes with challenges that must be addressed by educating people. Such families also deserve to live a normal life, they deserve to have children and be regarded are people in different-sex relationships. We need to have stepped up a curriculum just like psychology to train educators to help the society fight stigma and depression involved with same-sex marriage, children adoption, and upbringing. The future of these children is equally important in the growth of economies and generations and therefore they have to be brought up both morally and spiritually upright. This cannot be done if the parents with the responsibilities of bringing them up are not trained on how to take care of these babies in this unique environment where father and mother are of the same sex.
Gates, (2015), argues that in the recent past the number of same-sex parents has reduced compared to the millennial years, this is because the government has stepped up support for gay rights. When such initiatives are taken it gives young LGBTs the sense of belonging and entitlement in their own country, this drives away phobia and stigma. Continually, measures like the introduction of parenting education should be stepped up to take care of those who still wish to properly parent because however mu...
