Introduction
Human diversity has become a global issue that affects equality in education among individuals in society. These differences range from race, gender, social class, physical differences and intellectual. Gender disparities affect the learning process since there are communities which do not encourage education for girls. Teachers may also discriminate learners in a classroom setting due to their social class, intellectual and physical disability. For instance, bright and wealth students get more favors like class or school leadership unlike low performing and needy students. In other cases, individuals may be denied access to equal education because of their physical appearance. Africans-American students are viewed as inferior creatures who do not deserve education thus discriminated in terms of enjoying school research materials, reading books and government reimbursement (Rieckmann, 2018). The essay, however, will focus on the influence of human diversity on the learning process.
Core Beliefs About Education
Education help individuals acquire knowledge to deal with difficulties in life ranging from poverty, family violence, alcohol, and drug abuse and diseases. Empowering young boys and girls with education is vital for the growth of the community or country since it brings health, economic, social and political advantage. Educated individuals reduce the gap between rich and poor thus eradicating poverty. Individual disparities affect equality in education. For example, intellectual may affect learning since some students may lack cognitive ability to cultivate skills and knowledge in reading and taking courses due to the condition of either Alzheimer's or dementia (Osler & Starkey, 2018).
Teachers have a role in promoting students learning through engaging in decision making that assist in dealing with problems that affect them. Also, they should work with colleagues, politicians as well as community members to set available and transparent standards for learners. Therefore teachers prepare girls and boys by instilling disciplines, knowledge, skills, and abilities to become productive men and women in the job market in the future. However, human diversity may deter all children from acquiring equal education. For instance, white teachers may discriminate black learners in terms of provision of reading books and imposing disciplinal punishment. Also, teachers who are paid poorly particularly in remote schools may fail to deliver adequately to the students. These incidences affect students' academic performance thus bringing education inequalities.
Students learn best when they are introduced in the conducive learning atmosphere free from physical and mental disturbances. For instance, students from low-income earners may perform poor in texts, assignment, and grades due to various challenges which affect their brain ability to internalize learning materials as a result of psychological issues like stress (Gist, 2018). Also, learners with a physical disability may not perform well because some may feel intimidated and lack self-esteem, unlike their peers. Other colleagues may discriminate and fail to engage them in a group discussion or team learning which affects their overall grades, apart from preparing lessons, managing classrooms, grading papers and teaching the academic curriculum. Also, teachers need to educate learners other essential things beyond the school, for example, the role of retirement account, logic, and reasoning, skepticism as well as self-awareness. These will build future generation which will handle the individual's equally regardless of gender, race, social class, or physical disability.
The Link Between Education Beliefs, Teaching Style and Professional Goals
The primary strategy I would employ for teaching diverse students is to accommodate and appreciate the differences and similarities to create a development of instructional strategies and effective communication among them. Another approach is to build a relationship with learners regardless of gender, race, and social class, intellectual and physical disability. Also, to teach diversity student is vital to observe, identify and learn their task orientation, use multicultural books, and materials to enhance cross-cultural understanding as well as teaching them to align their behavior according to the setting.
To understand the strength and weakness of the learners concerning academic performance, I would involve an assessment because it would help in understanding learner's intellectual development and academic or learning skills. The evaluation enhances the understanding of student's reactions towards assignments, teaching material and methods. I would use CAT (classroom assessment technique) to boost ability and knowledge to students to think critically on a particular course unit and to enhance an attitude that values long-term understanding and retention. CAT helps in assessing students on course skills and knowledge, self-awareness, and values and reactions towards instruction methods (Gist, 2018). I would also use diagnostic, formative and summative assessment methods to measure students' knowledge, skills, weakness, and strengths prior, during and at the end of instruction.
I would create a positive learning environment by understanding student's needs, building class procedures and rules, creating a relationship, avoiding judgments and employing class building activities and games. Also, I would involve students in a discussion to ensure collectively in class participation without discrimination. To help learners from diverse backgrounds, I would establish a cooperative learning group to allow students to share their concept using their thoughts and words. I would also engage every learner in answering questions and sharing personal perspectives and deliver various contents via learning stations like watching the video, creating artwork, playing the game, reading article and group discussions. These strategies may accommodate all students from different race, social class, gender, and physical disabilities.
Conclusion
Race, gender, social class, intellectual and physical differences affect how individuals perceive education. Because of sexism and racism, some students perhaps are convinced that they don't deserve education or capable of academic performance (Bello-Pintado & Bianchi, 2018). For instances, learners from low-income earners may not access adequate learning tools and educational opportunities because of some study in marginalized schools with deficit teachers and learning materials, books and other essential educational materials. To eradicate human diversities, institution management including teachers should employ strategies to accommodate every student regardless of gender, race, social class, and physical disability. Students should also be taught on how to establish a relationship among themselves to eradicate disparities amongst them.
