Introduction

Personal learning goals and objectives are meant to build and improve students' learning capacity. Learning objectives create an environment of motivation, provide a means for self-evaluation and assist students in understanding the value of planning. I have developed my learning objectives, which I intend to achieve during my internship at the health education department.

The first objective is to learn how to coordinate health education programs with local community health organizations by the end of the internship. To achieve this, I will shadow the project manager during program outreach seminars and assist him in coordination activities. Also, I will study the functions and services offered by the local health organizations; and seek clarification on the partnerships and collaborations between the department and organizations. My supervisor will evaluate performance concerning this objective based on my participation in coordinating program activities during the last month of the internship.

My second objective is to learn how health education programs are run. I will spend at least a week in all the sectors of the department to understand the different aspects of the program. I will initiate an educative session with the project manager for clarification on the running of programs. At the end of the internship, I will write a report detailing the various processes of a program, from conception to finalization.

The third objective is to create effective health education promotional materials. To achieve this, I will attend brainstorming sessions on the creation of new adverts and seek the views of my peers concerning the existing promotional material. After attending four brainstorming sessions, I will prepare a health education advert and present it to my supervisor for criticism.

The fourth objective is to learn how to train volunteers on health education. I will attend training sessions offered by the department and observe the teaching techniques used by the trainers. I will seek guidance and mentorship relating to health education training from one of the trainers. At the end of the internship, I will organize a mock training session with four staff members and train them on an ongoing program; the staff members will evaluate my skill based on this session.

The fifth objective is to increase my knowledge in health education. To achieve this, I will familiarise myself with the various laws guiding health education and study different programs offered by the department, both in the past and present. During the final week of the internship, my supervisor will provide me with a test on health education to evaluate the attainment of this objective.

By developing personal learning objectives, I believe that I will gain much value from the internship. Learning objectives increases my chances of success and helps assess the compatibility of the job with career aspirations.
