Introduction
Global warming has been a concern for the governments of the world in the last couple of years. Industrialization and urbanization have resulted in more of the environment being degraded. This has resulted in increased levels of global warming. One of the primary causes of global warming are the use of fossil fuels, carbon emissions deforestation and livestock farming. In this paper, I will look at the practical solutions to these causes and how the environment can be reclaimed.
One of the central solutions to all these problems is stabilizing and reduction of the population. When the community is left unchecked, the number of people on the continent increases rapidly. The resources that are available in the world are finite and can only carter for a few numbers of people. The high population puts pressure on the available resources for use. In the problem of fossil fuels, the higher a population grows, the more the reliance on these fossil fuels will increase. With a greater population, the carbon emissions will also increase. Carbon emissions come from factories and other human activities. These factories will have to produce more goods to cater for the increased population thus higher carbon emissions. The huge population also increases the deforestation levels of a country. Forest cover is being depleted due to people requiring more space to live and having the need for more wood raw materials. With a higher population, the demand for these raw materials will increase with the need for more space resulting in more deforestation. The primary goal of livestock farming is to ensure that the human population has enough to eat. The vast population increases this need for food hence more livestock farming. The reduction of the people in the world is one sure way to keep environmental degradation in check. This will, in turn, reduce global warming.
Another solution to the rapid global warming is reforestation and implementing strict laws and regulations to prevent deforestation. Majority of the reason that global warming is happening is due to the high rates of deforestation. For example, when carbon dioxide is released from factories and industries, forests purify this and convert it into oxygen. This ensures that the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is retained at a constant. The runaway deforestation that has been witnessed in the last decade has led to a reduced ability for trees to keep the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere at a constant. By having reforestation programs in every country, this lost forest cover will be replenished there by riding the atmosphere of carbon dioxide. Governments should also implement laws that make the cutting of trees have very high penalties. This will make many people avoid deforestation, and thus the forest cover will increase. By increasing the forest cover, the amount of land that is left for livestock keeping is kept in check. People will be forced to look into new ways of providing food. This shows the possibility of implementing reforestation in reducing the number of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere and consequently decreasing global warming.
Another solution to this problem is reducing wastage and promoting the culture of recycling. In many places in the world, people are continually wasting finite natural resources. For example, people continuously waste energy through leaving lights on when not in use. This will cause an increase in the amount of electricity that is required to maintain the needs of the population. This will, in turn, increase the number of fossil fuel plants and thus global warming. Recycling also helps to reduce the amount of waste that is present in the earth's atmosphere. For example, instead of burning used plastic, it can be sent to recycling centers to be reused. This will reduce the amount of pollutants in the atmosphere and eventually reduce the rate of global warming. Governments of the world need t to ensure that strict laws are put in place to ensure that people and companies adhere to recycling. Industries are among the leading emitters of waste. From gaseous waste like smoke to solid and liquid waste in the form of sewage. These industries should be given steep fines in case they violate these laws.
With the runaway pollution that has been on the rise over the last decade, measures need to be put in place to ensure that this trend is stopped. Pollution results in many adverse effects to both the environment and the health of people. Pollution is the primary cause of global warming. To reduce global warming there is a need to ensure that deforestation is kept in check, the use of fossil fuels is reduced, livestock rearing is kept in check, and the amount of carbon emissions to the environment is reduced. To do this the government should put in place many laws to ensure that forests are not destroyed, the population in the world does not continue to grow unchecked and to ensure that the waste produced is kept at a minimum. I believe that with these recommendations, the increased global warming will be reduced.
