Introduction

Vehicle safety technology refers to special types of technology known as the advanced driver-assistance systems that help in ensuring the safety and the security of the automobiles together with different projects and devices that are within the automotive world. Vehicle safety technology is dominant in the automotive industry. Providing safety systems in vehicles is very important since it helps the vehicle in safeguarding human life when it comes to road accidents. Most of the vehicles, which are manufactured in the past few years come with the complete vehicle safety technology features that help them in various risks. The various technology adaptations to provide vehicle safety include covering almost every safety requirements, lane support and speed alert, and blind spot monitoring,

Today, vehicle safety technology is covering almost every safety that is required in the automotive industry (Zhang & Delgrossi, 2012). For the past five years, vehicle safety technology had improved in many sectors as compared to the years when technology was only working towards reducing road accidents. Some of the ways in which vehicle safety technology have improved in the past five years include Rollover protection. In the past, accidents, where the vehicles were flipping over, had been the most damaging accidents that result in damaging lots of property and any loss of life. However, for the past five years, the vehicle safety technology has introduced the rollover protection that helps most of the vehicle from rolling over (Young, Birrell & Stanton, 2011). There are detectors that are put in the vehicles that are sensible enough to detect essential factors such as undue acceleration around corners, and sudden swerving. This device automatically helps the vehicle from speeding and rolling over during accidents.

Lane support system and speed alert is another device that vehicle safety technology has improved on. When unintentionally the vehicle leaves the road lane, or a person changes the road lane without indication, then a device in the vehicle known as Lane Departure Warning system warns the driver to correct the mistake (Zhang & Delgrossi, 2012). Example of vehicle safety technology used to achieve lane support and speed management include car-to-computer communication machines that are using GPS tracking characteristics such as remote speed sensing (Young, Birrell & Stanton, 2011). Speed alerts, on the other hand, help in indicating when the vehicle is overspeeding and warns the driver for over speeding and other related traffic crashes.

Blind spot monitoring is also another device that vehicle safety technology has improved on. The use of blind spot monitoring is to help avoid any crash when there is two vehicle in the same lane, and one is continuously screening the blind spot at the side of the other vehicle (Young, Birrell & Stanton, 2011). In such cases, the device uses radar sensors or the ultrasonic to detect the vehicles that are approaching at the side of the car and alerts the driver of the car by indicating a yellow indicator at the mirror and vibrations and the steering

Conclusion

In summary, the introduction of vehicle safety technology has helped a lot in the automotive industry. The improvement of vehicle safety technology had also helped in saving humans life because, since the introduction of the technology, there has been a decrease in road accidents as compared to the past when the rate of accidents was enormous. Some of the vehicle safety technology improvement that has been noticed in the past five years include rollover protection, blind spot monitoring, and lane support system and speed alerts.
