A few years ago I applied for a job as a health care worker in a residential home. The trust requested my CV, but at that time I did not have one at hand at it was late to start drafting one from the scratch. In that case, I had to start processing one. I was a bit worried because I did not know where to start. I then turned to the internet for help with my CV.
The placement manager was looking for an employee with experience in health care, who would work as a health care worker. Quality must lie in all that the health care does and hence the placement manager makes sure only the best people are the one picked for the job. For this reason I had to prove in my application that I was capable of what was expected of me. The application screening process is so rigorous so I had to make an impression in my CV. Their current and previous health condition is checked to ensure that they do not represent health risk to patients as well as other staff so I included my health condition in my CV. For one to be picked for the interview by the placement manager, their quality is assessed and they must be able to offer services of the highest standards. If the application is successful and the CV impresses the interview panel, then one is called for an interview.
Search for Placement and Application
Since I was in need of job convenient for me, I had to do something about the situation. I went online to the job website and looked for a job that that would be convenient for me and that paid well. I used the website search and searched for jobs where there were many jobs available, but not all of them were convenient for me. The search landed me to this job of health care worker in a residential care home. I then applied for the job online where later the facility requested for my CV and i sent it through the email.
Placement That Suit Me and My Skills
I was looking for a job that would suit me, develop my skills and motivate me to learn more and be able to engage well with my colleagues and work as a team. This job would provided me with good working environment, make me feel secure at my place of work as well being accepted. This would make me enjoy my work .There should be good management to allow me learn as I work. I would be able to deliver a lot in my work and the better pay would enables me meet my personal need without having to struggle so much.
The Placement Interview
Before I could go for the interview, I did a thorough background search on what is expected of me as a health care worker in a residential care home. I improved my aptitude level by using the best materials offered online which are in-depth on this type of job that I was applying for. I also researched on the possible questions that were most likely to be asked and practiced on how best to answer them using the best vocabularies, technical terms relevant to this job as well as improving my speed of answering the questions. Dressing code is very important and I chose the clothes that were fit for the interview. With this preparation and the CV I drafted from the internet websites I was ready for the interview.
Kind of Staff the Employer Was Looking Forward To Hire
The employer was looking for a staff who would pass the psychometric tests, which requires one to be my natural self and answer all the questions honestly. The employer was also looking for a trust worthy person with sufficient experience and knowledge on health care matters. Pantuality to work as well as work discipline are good virtues of an employee so it was also expected of me by the manager. Hard work, eloquence, good communication skills as well as analyticalskills are expected of a good employee.
What To Do Differently In Future Job Application
From this experience I had when applying for this job as a health care worker in a residential care home, it then was advisable to strategize on how I would prepare for a future job application. There are several things that I would do differently from how I did on this job of health care worker. I would prepare my CV early enough with all the requirements needed instead of rushing in the last minute and relying so much on online websites on CV drafting.
Consistency between the application and the resume is a vital aspect. I would be very keen the next time I do a job application to ensure consistency in my papers. Another thing that I would be keen on is proofreading my application for typos, spelling mistakes as well as checking for blank spaces before submitting it to the relevant person.
What I Would Do Differently In Relation To My Application
After I submitted my CV I went through a copy of it and noticed a lot of mistakes I had made. I mistakenly did not notice some blank spaces I left behind. This was a very bad impression I had created of myself in the eyes of the placement manager. . I woke up late on the day of my interview since I slept late the previous day trying to go through online materials that contained information on the health care facility, thus did not give myself enough time to relax my mind and ease interview tension. This affected my composure during the interview where I struggled to look relaxed. I kept fighting the fidgeting and yawning that I was experiencing due to lack of sleep. I would be very careful the next time I purpose to go for an interview since it increases ones chance of landing the job without having to struggle so much. One should always be ready for things that they consider very important to them like interview which may be a turning point to their job career. Neatness, punctuality and composure during the interview are vital aspects needed when attending an interview whatsoever.
Comments and Reflection
Applying for a job is a crucial process and the applicant should be very keen to avoid all the silly mistakes that may cost their chances of landing the job. The people going through their resume and application letters do not have all the time to figure out what the applicant is trying to mean in their application. The applicant should also keep in mind that the competition is high since they are not the only ones applying for that job hence should be extra keen during the interview.
