Introduction
Conserving the environment is the practice of keeping the environment by the individuals, communities, organizations and even the government itself. Conserving natural resources will take us an extra mile of reducing the dangers of global warming. Management of waste is one alarming practice that has polluted our environment despite efforts being made by our scientist on how to convert these waste into useful products. Thus a terminology known as spaceship earth came in to answer this question concerning our environment. This is a metaphor which has been discussed by quite a number of a political scientist. Spaceship as a metaphor describes the earth as containing water and air which are essential in the life of any human being (Calder, 2015).
The Spaceship Earth
Spaceship earth as described by an economist is where supporting systems are into each other without any outputs or inputs. The planet earth is now becoming a reservoir for pollution and thus as an ordinary human being the look for other ways of reproduction. The primary purpose of bringing up this metaphor is to educate people to utilize the limited available resources to a specific limit. It provides a clear image of the earth as a small system with which people can understand if critically examined (Calder, 2015).
Well, it should be understood that we have only one planet and that is what all of us are depending to provide support for us. Therefore, there is a question of maintaining favorable positions with little consumption. Also, human beings have an excellent task of conserving the environment to secure their welfare. The next generation is at risk and danger if the current generation will not change and make the environment clean by disposing of the waste in a manner that cannot interfere with the surrounding. This takes us to the question of how we can do it, I mean, how can we then conserve the environment?
How Important is Conservation
First, the environment is very vital in our life; thus, every part of it like trees, oceans, animals, and soil should be treated. There are quite some ways of conserving the environment which was discussed in class last time. Some of the mentioned ones were national parks, agriculture, industry, people and even ecological value. All these ways should be followed as they are all interlinked. Meaning, if one is ignored the other ones also fall obviously since they work just as a body of a human being. If one part of the body ceases to function, say, mouth it means other parts will not function since they will lack food hence no energy. Thus, each way is paramount as if ignored it can cause severe global warming (Richmond, 2017). Not only will pollution occurs but also there will be a loss of aesthetic value.
There are several advantages we gain when try conserving the environment. Agriculture is what raises the economy of the country, and this is where we get food from. Thus the need for curbing soil erosion and desertification should be brought to an end. Bearing in mind that these activities significantly affect the climate were if not sensitized it can cause drought and extreme temperatures. Planting many trees can also help in the greenhouse effect, in that, those harmful gasses emitted can be utilized by plants. Rainfall also may not fall if there is deforestation.
Thus, conserving of the surrounding exist in many forms, and each person should be mindful of the choices they make otherwise, they will pollute it unknowingly. Although we can be busy in our daily activities, it remains adequately comfortable to involve oneself in some, yet very necessary, activities for the love of our planet. This can be significantly achieved by considering what we use in our households and how best we can dispose of them or importantly recycled. Disposing of waste anyhow leads to pollution; hence, as the government sensitizing people on proper ways can be of great help to our nation. This brings us to now describe a syndrome known as overkill, that is, how can we know the amount of destruction.
What is Overkill
Archeologist describes overkill as one in a linkage of causal microorganisms for the extinctions (Jensen, 2016). On the contrary, ecologist relates the extinction of animals to human beings in that people have become selfish consumers as they over depend on animals; thus do not balance the ecosystem. Majorly overkill can be discussed in many forms like wildlife and trees. Wild animals overkill is a complete elimination or says a gradual reduction of wildlife population by either illegal hunting or killing. There is also the claim of blaming human beings by the extinction of some species like dinosaurs. After people knowing the value of their products, they began hunting until they became extinct since they were not in large numbers. This particular syndrome is gaining momentum and can cause danger if not addressed.
Conclusion
Change starts with you and me. If you wait for someone else to start then, you must be sailing in the wrong boat as it has been said change is inevitable. Ways in which we dispose of our waste should be according to the law. Waste management is a meaningful way that can bring many issues down if appropriately dealt es like with. Approaches like recycling should be employed, and other technological ways like incineration and pyrolysis should be essential methods used to curb this syndrome. Reforestation and proper conservation of soil are some of the practices we should be embracing now.
