Introduction
The most notable changes in the twenty-first century are the advancement and wide spreading of mass media in our social life. The broad coverage of media has facilitated quick transfer of information from one place to a different destination regardless of the physical distance (Aitken, 2019). The influence of new media on our social life is significant. Once information is posted, it is viral hence trending in different social media platforms across the globe. The film media has promoted natural socialization of individuals where people can send and receive pictures of the individuals they interact (Martin, 2018). The public welfare should be maintained regardless of the high demand for information that individuals require. A variety of film content has been published globally (Rosenstone, 2017). Some of the means through which film content is produced are through movies, short clips, songs, and images. The youth should be prohibited from accessing adult content that is poisonous to their mind. Some film companies have maintained an ethical standard to give warnings on film content it provides. "Core + flanking" landscape of film technology was unable to meet the demands of the users hence necessitating the introduction of matrix media that covers a broad spectrum of data to enhance communication, influence the target people through adverts, and maintain its credibility throughout to achieve the long-term objectives of the communication system and film industry. This research proposal aims to establish the development and influence of film studies and mass media to the current generation through the use of different social platforms.
Research Questions
Study questions are the questions which the team will center their study (Marcus, Metzger, Paxton, & Stoddard, 2018). The questions need to be arguably where the answers are open and debatable rather than accepting the facts (Smelik, 2017). Some of the research questions that will guide the team to stay in the scope of the study include:
- What is the influence of new media on the socialization function of public welfare of films?
- What are some of the most popular media platforms that quickly spread information to the global community, and how are they functional in the contemporary world?
- What ethical issues and licensing are necessary for a film to be produced and sold commercially hence maintaining credibility?
- What are some of the primary goals that film producers set when producing media content for their audience?
- What is the influence of the new mass media to the youth and the general social welfare of the users who actively embrace the movie content?
Research Objectives
Study objectives are the achievements that the research purposely wants to fulfill (Bruno, 2018). The questions intend to find answers to study subjects hence testing the hypothesis (Katz, Lazarsfeld, & Roper, 2017). Some of the study objectives that the team will have to achieve include:
- To examine the influence of the new media opportunity on the socialization function of public welfare.
- To asses some of the popular new media platforms and how the current generation uses them.
- To establish licensing requirements necessary for publication on media content and the ethical issues that need to be observed by the producers.
- To asses some of the goals new media producers and content creators set before the production of their movies to the audience.
- To examine the influence new mass media is creating among youths with regards to the social welfare of the users.
Literature Review
Media is one of the quickest ways of spreading information across the world. Film studies are a prime course which a majority of youths are engaging in to understand the production of movies and other motion content. The influence of new media among the child is very significant. Advancement in film technology is rapid. The film industry is currently used for both recreational and commercial purposes, depending on the goal of the platform. Media is a fundamental aspect that can be under use on different elements that are pressing the society at large (Curran & Hesmondhalgh, 2019). The activists have often used new media inventions to crusade their claims hence creating public awareness among the target audience. China and the United States of America are the pioneers in the new media platforms that are widely used globally. The new media platforms generate a large amount of revenue to both China and the USA due to the large number of users who actively use the media and watch content online. It is estimated that around four million videos are watched daily across the world; hence, the smooth spread of information regardless of the physical distance between the individuals (Curran & Hesmondhalgh, 2019).
Curran and Hesmondhalgh have created an insightful journal that incorporates reviewed essays on film studies and new media from established institutions. They have widely covered the fil industry and the influence the new media platforms have to the current generations. Different functions of the media platforms have also been highlighted in the latest edition, making it one of the most sought journal. Despite the successes in their study, Curran and Hesmondhalgh have failed to discuss the possible inventions expected in the film industry. They also failed to incorporate the ethical issues that different platforms need to adhere to before the production of their content (Hartley, 2017).
Significance of the Study
Film study is currently one of the major courses that youths are studying in their respective institutions (Allcott & Gentzkow, 2017). The urge to tap technology innovation allures them to consider motion content that can be used to communicate different ideas. Upon completion of the study, the beneficiaries of the study will comprehend the influence new media is creating among youths and different platforms that are actively used (Lippmann, 2017). The recipients will also understand the ethical considerations that need to be observed when producing a film. The target audience will even understand the hidden lessons and moral aspects of different movies and clips that producers intend to pass across when producing their films (Hayward, 2017).
Research Methodology
During the final study, the team will employ a qualitative research technique in analyzing the data. Qualitative method will allow the team to predict future innovations that are expected within the film industry by comparing the previous technologies and the current advancements (Grainge, 2018). It also allows the drawing of conclusions from the available data, which forms the basis of detail analysis of data. In the collection of data during the study, the two primary methods that will be used are observation and interviews (Flick, 2018). The team will hold face-to-face interviews with film producers and observe them during movie shooting. Other secondary sources that intend to facilitate data collection are textbooks and documentaries (King, Horrocks, & Brooks, 2018).
Conclusion
The film industry is expanding rapidly. Creativity is enhanced in production of movies to create a competition of the audience effectively. Different media platforms are such as Facebook are used to spread information enabling global sharing of data. In the production of the film content, ethical issues regarding social welfare are considered by the producers.
