Research Aim and Overview

The main aim of this research is to find out the rapid changing typology of water transport within the city of Venice. This research aims at studying the changes that have taken place in the city of Venice over the recent years. Also, research on the modern technology usage and adaptation of various water transport channels in the city. This research also aims at finding the types of vessels that have been adopted and the disappearing of boats as modes of transport.

Introduction

Venice city is the capital of the Veneto region with a population of more than 270,000. The city is in the north-east location of Italy. Venice s located on numerous small islands of the Venetian lagoon. The city is magical and stretches through numerous islands. It is a place where lovers often meet for the magical surrounding experience. The city is referred to as the city of Gondole; named from its famous transport system in the city. Major parts of the city are covered by water and therefore making the major transport systems in the city to be either by boat by feet. Just like any other cities on land, cities on water are capable of undergoing many improvements in the system of transport. The transport in this region has aided in the development of the socio-economic settlement and industrial frameworks in the city of Venice. Apart from waterways, other transport mediums are airports, ports, and trains . Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano (ACTV) is the transport company that mainly runs the major water transport of Venice. The public transport system of Venice city is a major tourist attraction techniques. The water bus and the water taxis are the major water transportation vessels in Venice city.

Vernice Transport Typologies

The government of the Venice city has regulated the movements of the boats around the waters of the city. The regulation is put in place so that safety is achieved in the transport industry around the country. I addition, a ban has been implemented on the vessels that are only used for recreation. The ban is to help improve the appearance of the city, the movements, and growth of the town.

In Vernice city, the main boat used in transport is known as the Vaporetto boat which is a public mode of transport. The Vaporetto boats move along the grand canal operating to and from Lido. Burano, Murano, and Torcello. Vaporetto is another name that is used to term the water bus and water taxi. This boat has a regular timetable thus meaning that the boat is never far. The boat is made with a panoramic view with comfortable seats to ensure locals and tourists travel in style. The Vaporetto makes many stops and is similar to a bus on land.

The Gondola is a traditional boat that sails in the Venice canals and is used only for sight seeing. The Gondola has a very fixed root there one cannot be picked or dropped off to specific situations. The fact theta the boat sails through the lagoon makes the experiences new and magical.

The water taxis operate its schedule similar to those of city car taxis, but now this one operates on water. The water taxi can only carry a maximum of 10 people. This system of transportation is more than the water bus. However, it provides the comfortability that one may need after a flight from the airport. The water taxi is best suited for passengers, and therefore they can adjust to their comfortability freely.

The Alilaguna shuttle is commonly referred to as the airport Ferry. This is a private water boat service that sails from polo airport through the lagoon to Murano, Venice, and Lido. This private boat is among the cheapest and therefore is a preferred mode of transport by many people. The boat also is unique in its structure in a way that it is asymmetrical of its hull. The boat is mostly used by young people and for recreation purposes because of its elegance. The boat can also be used for sporting competition.

It is not exactly known where the name sandolo is derived from. Some of the boat family members are used in hunting in the sand bank of the lagoon while others are used for fishing at night with the lampara. The complexity of its design is what makes it able to respond to all environmental pressures of the lagoon. It is also one of the most widespread types of vessel in the lagoon.

The Topa boat is much different from others because of its minimal size with a thin frame. The boat is also mirror vertical. It is a type of boat that is used for private transportation.

But then through tourism, foreign investors have ventured into the transport industry and other fast developing companies within the city. The transport in Venice has been the greatest attraction of tourism. However, the rate of tourism has risen much to inconsiderable levels.

Policies and Recommendation on the Venice Transport

Policymakers ought to address issues such as long-term protection of waterways transport systems. The transport system of Venice has improved over a long time, and new technological innovations are coming up. Innovations such as the water taxis that provide all the comfort needed when traveling has been achieved. This, therefore, calls for the government to support technological innovations among its citizens. The boats that were used 50 years back have since been improved. This is because of the demand for increased demand for public transport with the country. Also, policymakers should get involved in ensuring components such as social, Economic and environmental management are addressed in the community. Policy makers in Venice city should recommend adaptation of better land use activities. Good land use in transport syst6em helps preserve the waterways for future use. The government through the support f more innovations should mainly focus on improving the efficiency of the transport in the city. Besides, due to the overpopulation of tourists, the government ought to put on strict measures on the borders to monitor the movement of tourist in the country.

In conclusion, Venice is a city with very many unique features. The extent of innovativeness in the transport system of Venice is extraordinary. There has been constant improvement of the typologies of canals that are used for transport in Venice. Different crafts with more speed and larger ships have been introduced in the country. The government has managed to create policies and interventions that helped promote water transport. Increased rate of tourism had been of benefit to the country but with time tourism turned out to be harm. Old boats that still exist despite the fact they are not locally preferred are used by white tourists who need to feel the traditional experience. The better part of Venice being covered by water means that the best transport mode in the country is water means. There are both public and private modes of transport, but people mostly tend to choose the public. Boats in Venice are also used in carrying out many tasks such rubbish collection among another job. The transport system of the Venice city is unique and improves daily.
