The selection committee should always maintain confidentiality on the selection criteria and the names of the candidates who are vying for the professor position at Algonquin College. The committee members will consist of the dean of students, Academic register, the head of departments and four other lectures from each department. The committee members will be responsible for:
Assisting the committee chair in preparation for selection committee meeting
Recommending to new colleagues in the committee if need arises
Advising on the chairperson on important matters of the institution
Communication with the selected candidates and reviewing of candidates nominations
Responsibilities of the Dean
The dean of students acts as a link between the school administration and the students. Issues that affect the students reach the management through the dean's office. As a result, the dean ensures that students concerns regarding new professors admission to the institution are met with positive reactions (Catano et al., 2013). Therefore, the Dean of Students will participate as the chairperson to the selection committee. His responsibilities will include:
Oversees that participation of committee members is useful
Ensures that there are order and fairness in nomination of candidates
Ensures that there are equality and consistency in the selection criteria of candidates
The supervisors will participate as the assigned viewers to the committee. Their responsibility will include:
Review of each of the candidate's papers about the selection criteria used
Presenting the nominated personnel and tabling them during the meeting for discussion
The other two professors will be assigned to participate as the designated viewers to ensure that the assigned nominations of candidates for the professor position are read out before the meeting commences (Long, 2006).
Selection committee confidentiality/release form
The confidentiality form will mainly focus on five major phases namely: classification, exit process, new hire orientation, performance management, and recruiting talent.
Classification
Administrative Job fact sheet Questionnaire: This form will be used in the institution to evaluate the performance of its staff and ensure that quality is not compromised
Support Position Evaluation request form: the top management will use this form when they wish to submit to the public a detailed report on the support staff position and assessment of their performance
Exit Process
Checklist for employees: institution will use this list when employees apply for resignation
Checklist for employees retiring: the organization will use this list when an employee is retiring from their work positions.
New Hire Orientation
New employee orientation: This is document that will contain information regarding new hires orientation process
Performance Management
Department performance development program: the institution will use the performance development program to evaluate the performance of staff and students in Talent recruitment:
Working hours template: This form will be utilized in case staff members fill in for additional working hours due to extra curriculum activities in the institution.
All documents can be presented to new recruits in alternate format, hard copy or forwarded to their personal emails on request
