Introduction
For one to live a healthier life, there is the need to set SMART goals health practice. The standard goals should be specific, measurable action-oriented, realistic and time framed. Though it is a challenging task, one should strive their best to achieve them. Here are some of the goals which should be followed for a healthy life.
Goals
They include:
- Trying not to skip breakfast at all times, eating more fiber in a day,
- Eating vegetables once a everyday.
- Practice eating less meat and a lot of beans in instead.
- Eat your own cooked food rather than in hotels.
- Manage your weight by avoiding junk foods.
- Make healthier meals at home by avoiding a lot of cooking fats.
- Drink healthier drinks and taking 30 minutes of exercise daily.
Challenges in Meeting Goals
Although some of the goals may be challenging due to time we should try as much as possible to attain them at all times. Indeed it was challenging to meet all the goals at first; I was able to meet most of them. This was done by a lot of dedications, sacrifice, and commitment from both internal self and the people around my life.
Importance of Goals
The goals were very important to me since my lifestyle has changed a lot over time. There is clear scientific proof to the benefits of the SMART goals. A research done by scientists. Bovend'Eerdt, Botell, and Wade (2009) revealed that: A framework for the use of SMART goals in rehabilitation has been designed to accommodate the dynamic nature of this environment
Research by Rehman and Berry (2014) on a patient with stroke revealed that: In a case study of an individual who had sustained a stroke, SMART goals served as a powerful tool for the patient's rehabilitation
Also, research on stroke patients was done by scientist Rosewilliam, Roskell and Pandyan (2011) showed that; Clinicians often view recovery from the point of the stroke onward, whereas patients view recovery as the achievement of their pre-stroke status. In agreement with this perspective, when the ICF system categorized patient goals, they were primarily impairment based. Impairment-based goals aim to improve a problem with a body function that has experienced significant deviation or loss. Such examples may include overcoming impairment and achievement of ADLs and instrumental ADLs (e.g., improving hand function).
Challenging Goals
In spite of all this achievement, there are other goals which are very challenging to achieve, for instance eating out foods in hotels due to the busy nature of my study, eating meals with less meat or avoiding totally, since meat is one of my favorite meals.
Remedies
I have made steps to make sure I attain my SMART eating goals such as setting track goals with Ea Tracker for assessing my eating habit And also drawing a weekly diet timetable to be followed every day.
Ways to Can Work on Goals for the Second Part of the Diet Analysis Project
I will have to find people who can assist me in achieving my goals i.e. experts, close friends or parents. Also finding time to rest during weekends rather than going for parties, this helps in planning for the next week and also helps the body and mind relax. Also I will have to write a list of the goals I need to achieve down in paper and stick it in my room for remembrance purposes. Eating habits are very important for healthy living, thus we should consider SMART eating habits in order to avoid health issues.
