As I grew up, I realized that education was essential in success as was evident in the life of my parents. I took a keen interest in education and was motivated by my mother who was a teacher herself, and when I could no longer persevere, I decided on a career change to have a purpose in the career I was following and also pursue something that would bring me happiness and a purpose in life. I, therefore, wish to be certified so that I can apply for a high school teaching job and I am convinced that Manhattanville's School of Education graduate is the best place for me to achieve this since I have heard so much about the institution from my mother who is an alumnus there. I wish to become more proficient in both Spanish and English and become a motivation for my future students on the equality and preservation of one's culture. As a teaching assistant in Nanuet high school I developed the skill to interact with students which I hope to further grow at your institution
Modern teachers have encountered a period with different historical mutations where traditional teaching is no longer desirable. It, therefore, requires teachers to re-evaluate certainties of Essentialism and their philosophy of education. My philosophical belief is that essential educational needs of the students should be met so that they can be competitive in the modern society. I, however, hold the view that, progressive techniques should also find application to enable the students to gain better information and be the best version of themselves they can be.
I believe that each student has a unique talent and consequently faces challenges which are unique to themselves. They, therefore, need a personal and special intervention by the teacher to guide them through the process both inside the classroom and outside. I, therefore, wish to incorporate different teaching styles depending on the learning preference of each student whereby my students will find it ordinary to express their views and reservations concerning matters and the same are discussed in class. I yearn for a teaching session where students can accept each other and embrace those who are different in race, background, and ethnicity for the betterment of the community in which they live.
In every classroom, I will ensure cohesion as a teacher and will assist students to develop rules for their styles of learning and development. As a teacher, I believe I have a responsibility to guide each child to educational excellence by developing a curriculum that encompasses their needs and trends in modern education. I hold a view that employing the use of hands-on learning, projects, cooperative learning and individual engagement of the students will change their opinion on education and activate their learning. With today's culturally diverse American society I am sure my contribution to education will come as an advantage to the community.
